I would definitely be up for doing some bowling. I'll be back in Berlin next weekend, then will help out organising something.

I'm just trying to finish setting up my work schedule, but was thinking of suggesting Monday nights at about 7:30 ish.
As with Thursday nights I think it's be great to try out a few different venues, at least at first in order to find a decent alley that we may want to use regularly.
Once we pick a definite date and time we can arrange for a sign up sheet to be added to this thread so we can phone and make a booking.
If you're interested in participating could you look up an alley or 2 that you'd like to try and check for public bowling times and perhaps rates?
I used to do something like this back in Canada years and years ago and was always a good night out.

Hi all, sorry, not had internet at home for a while..
Excellent, some interest

Only problem is, Tuesday is the only evening i'm free before 9.30pm... however, i'm up for Monday or Thursday if people don't mind it being 9.30pm...

I'd be so in on this but unfortunately I live way down in Munich.
Why not start a bowling thread in the Munich forum to see if there's any interest?

I'm shit at bowling, but it sounds like a great time. Just moved into the city, so my schedule is quite hectic at the moment. If a decision is made on time and place, let me know and I would try to make it out.

Since no one else has really thrown a day and time out yet, I'm going to suggest Monday March the 3rd at 19.30, or Saturday the 1st at 18.00. I have to work early every morning so can stay out that late. (unfortunately I know monday doesn't suit you Ian)
do either of these times suit anyone? If we can find a time with at least a couple of people available we can get this up and going.

Good call global girl. Both times and dates would work fine for me, although Saturday might be better. Certainly bowling lanes in Berlin have cheap pitchers of beer and cheezy tunes?!

i wanna go bowling! that would cure any sort of homesickness that i might have...yeah, fuck it dude. lets go bowling. That date sounds good, globalgirl.

So I'm going to set the first official date for Saturday the 1st of March, 7pm. Just have to find a lane now. I'm going to check out the 2 nearest me for times and prices.

hey global, I can recommend
East-Side-Bowling at Ostbahnhof. I was there once with my colleagues and it's an acceptable place that should also be pretty easy to get to for most people.

Feb 24 2008, 7:37 pm
So I'm trying to get a sign up sheet organised so that we can see how many people are coming along and I'll try and book a lane (probably that ost-bowl that was mentioned or maybe the one right at alexander plz?)
globalgirl
Feb 25 2008, 7:55 am
If you fancy coming along put a post on this thread to confirm and let me know if you want to bring anyone else along with you. I'll try and book something by Wednesday night.

I'm more than up for regular bowling nights out, remind me of when there used to be a wicked late night bowling lane in Brighton that was so dark you couldn't actually see what you were doing, sometime dangerous but much fun!
Can't make the 1st but will definitely make the next one...would recommend the Ostbahnhof lanes as well.
Happy bowling!

What I think I'll do is just book us a couple of lanes to start (I'll phone both locations I mentioned tonight and see what the situation is), looks like we're going to get enough people showing up to get a couple teams together.

Ok, so I managed to reserve a lane on Saturday evening at
East Side Bowling, but they only let me reserve for one hour. I think if we're going to try for Alexanderplatz another week, we're (meaning probably someone more organised than me) is going to have to arrange it well in advance.
*edit
I found a cheaper lane that doesn't sound too bad and we can reserve a full 2 hours (but can change this if we want) and it's close to Frankfurter tor so closer to a few bars and the tram to get a few of us to Hairy Mary's (see 'world beer tour') later.

Just wanted to say I had a great time bowling. The place was fantastically cheesy, down to the selection of 90's pop played by the dj. I'm looking forward to the next bowling night, which we might try and have more central, but we're definitely going back to Bowling am MKC again sometime.
