I really hate Boxing day (2nd Christmas Day) in Germany. Nowt's open, the new toys are not quite so new and there's bugger all to do.
Still, work tomorrow.

Try it here - I get to spend it with my 90 something year old parents of my step-father and my mom won't be the most fun to be around.
You could drive up to Bristol and enjoy the Boxing Day sales.
On second thoughts it's better here.

I thought I might do my laundry, but the laundry room is booked til 8pm tonight- god, I hate this country sometimes.
All the shops are closed and there is absolute CRAP on Television... Armagedon and Titanic, wtf?
Wish I was home and could spend the day shopping and enjoying the cheap prices and a nice martini lunch.

Drive to bristol? Do you know how narrow the streets are here? I would get totally lost, and they drive on the wrong side anyway.
But the boys made breakfast and served my mom and I breakfast in bed - hard eggs, cold potatoes, jam on toast that slipped into the pile of ketchup on the plate.

The 90 year olds are looking more fun.
Imagine how terrible boxing day was before the internet

This is my favourite day of Chrimbo. MY day. I'm going to be doing whatever I like, and failing that, bugger all. I'm taking my daughter to the station to ship her off for a week to her cousins', I'm taking my son to go and see an animated film about rodents and French cuisine, and then it's an afternoon of footie and beer. At this point if God would like to actually come out and show himself for once, I'll have a BJ, thank you very much (which sounds a bit like, "God! Suck my dick!"). Ho, ho, ho.

I'm working today. I don't think I could stand having another day off because of Christmas.

They can't be that narrow as most of the vehicles are usually tractors.
It's not the wrong side of the road either, it's the logical side. You want your shield in your left hand and your sword in the right.

I'm left handed.

True about the tractors though. This is a weird place. I would get lost though - nothing but windy lanes from village to town to village. I have no clue where I really am in the greater scheme of things.

today is probably the most boring but the 25th in germany (austria in my case) is the most depressing because I keep thinking I should be with my family opening presents and having fun, then I call home and my mom starts crying which makes me even more sad...
...this year wasn't as bad as usual though because my I got to play with my 14 mo old niece al day which is always a gaudi as the germans say

I like having the day off work, but other than that, it´s Tote Hose. I would like to do some laundry, too, but for some reason the outlets in my bathroom have stopped working. Think I blew a fuse, but the fusebox doesn´t seem to be anywhere in the apartment. I probably have to wait until after New Year´s to get someone in to look at it :-(

I am doing absolute bugger all except loading and unloading the dishwasher, we are meeting friends for a late lunch, then coming home to watch the new DVDs. This is my first real day off since I don't know when, and I'm back to work tomorrow, you bet I'll enjoy today.
P.S. @ Ruthie: Ask your janitor. Yeah, it's a holiday, so give him a bottle of wine or something, but ask him what could be wrong.

U Saddo!!!
Am loving my Boxing day. All 3 kids are down with flu and basically all we've eaten today is doses of Panadol! Highlight of the day must be when darling daughter threw up on me in bed! Amazing what collateral damage a 3 year old can do. Three loads of laundry later ...
