My son is rather keen on building a snowman and sledging. Every morning he looks out of the window and disappointedly reports no snow. Any tips where to find the stuff this weekend?

The Alps.

I was hoping for something a bit closer to home.

I would suggest the Harz but it looks like it will be sunny this weekend. Maybe you will have to wait for another weekend.

Altenberg?

Looks like snow on the ski slopes. Do you think snowman building possibilites are guaranteed?

The Thüringia report please?

I would suggest the Harz

The Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz has 46cm of snow. Will do nicely.

We found snow in Schierke in the Harz. We left home in Delitzsch in the bright sunshire and headed for the hills. The journey only took about 1 and 1/2 hours due to the new B6. It was really nice to go sledging while it was snowing. Couldn't build a snowman, however, because the snow was very icey.
