Friday Night Drinking Club (FNDC)

Hi All,

A recap of last week for those of you that couldn't join us:
- We lounged in style at the Long island beach club in semi-sunny conditions. There was an impressive turnout with new faces and some old faces we havent seen for a while.
- A vote was then taken on where to go next. The vote didnt go my way but I stuck to the peoples choice (dont expect the same level of democracy to be repeated this week just because its July 4th ;-) )
- O'reillys wasnt as bad as I remembered it from last time. Nonetheless the karaoke was horrific but fun was largely had by all.

It seems as though July the 4th is happening on a FNDC day this year. To keep you Americans happy... lets have an American theme to our drinking this Friday.

My suggestion is NYC bar which is on Schweizer Strasse (Sachsenhausen) and nearby Schweizer platz ubahn. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they serve fat American burgers too in case anyone wants to join me early for a big bite to eat.

- Chicago Meat packers - near Haubptbahnhof and therefore dangerously close to O'reillys
- Louisianas - Escherheimer tour

And for afterwards... anyone know of any July 4th themes at clubs this week, I dont. Anyone have any non-O'reillys suggestions?

I'll definitely be there, and NYC sounds perfect. And as intriguing as the Chicago Meat packers sounds, I would also be in favor of skipping karaoke this week...

All I have to say about O'reillys;
nice pub, shitty kareoke (except Hilary and Adam's perfomance which was the best of the night), but at least they have some Crown Royal to make it all sound better. ;-)

NYC bar it is. I'll be there from 7:30 onwards and munching a cheeseburger.

NYC bar is on the corner of where Schweizer Strasse and Hans-Thoma-Strasse meet. You can get the U1,U2 or U3 line to Schweizer Platz U-bahn stop and then its 2 mins walk (towards the river). Also, I think its about 15 mins walk from Willy brand platz and 20 ish from Hauptwache.

The weather is looking fairly good so you should hopefully find us sitting outdoors.

No point walking from either Hauptwache or Willy-Brandt-Platz. They are all on the U1, U2 and U3 Richtung Südbahnhof! Takes 2 minutes by tube.

yeah but for those who like a walk or don't have a travelcard...it's super easy & not far.

Action has abandoned us this week for his fellow Irish drinking buddies, so I'm organising again.

A recap of last week for those of you that missed out:
- We met at NYC bar in Sachsenhausen with a special aim of celebrating July 4th. In the end, we weren't that successful, although some cheeseburgers were eaten, our efforts were hampered by the bar not actually serving any American beers.
- About 20 of us turned out (some new, mostly returners)
- The next and last stop was stereo bar/club in Sachsenhausen where the doorman was so impressed by our turnout that he gave us a discount on entry! An FNDC first I believe.
- I think most enjoyed it here and visbily so judging from some of the flamboyant dancing on show (keep it up guys)

The plan for this evening:

8pm onwards - We meet at cafe Extrablatt in Bockenheim. This place has outdoor and indoor seating to accommodate whichever way the weather goes. Its really easy to get to by U-bahn, its directly outside Bockenheimer Warte U-bahn (as long as you exit from the correct exit, I'm not sure which one)
10.30-11 - We move onto Sausalitos which is just around the corner and should offer a more upbeat setting.

I may pop in on my way back from MUC today. I don't get to Fra Hbf until 20:00 so I reckon I'll get to you all by 20:30. Is the TT group easy to find when you don't know any faces?

I've got a face you can get to know (check profile) and will be wearing a yellow shirt. Combine that with -big group of english-speakers-, and you should be fine.

I'm a big fan of these FNDC recaps- and unfortunately, since I'm out of town this weekend, I won't be able to join you guys tonight- but I'll see you all next week!

Didn't make it after all. The ICEs are dysfunctional at the moment so I was stuck in a Munich Biergarten instead until the rain came down. If I had tried to get back to Frankfurt I wouldn't have made it last night until after 23:00 so I came back today instead.

Berliner in Berliner Strasse is a good and communicative place for a beer in a group! Also Wagner in Sachsenhausen, where one can eat Frankfurtstyle food. Feuerrädchen is even a more local traditional place.

Ok folks ! Due to public demand, the early birds can congregate for happy hour (7-8pm) at Bar Oro at top of Fressgasse (alte oper end) from 7pm. Oro does a mean Mojito !

For those wishing to join a bit later we shall stay there until 9pm then go somewhere else and inevitably end up in a nightclub (usual winning formula!).

Can the new people who showed up last week send me a private message with their TT names for future correspondence.

quick edit : on google maps the street is actually called "kalbächer gasse"I just learnt ! Although the area is known as Fressgasse I believe.

After work friday drinks are almost upon us again...

Last Friday got rather messy with all the beer and mojitos flying about! I hope we get as good a turn out as last week and people are still not hungover!

This time I think we found "The Holy Grail" of central Frankfurt! A nice bar on a street behind Goethestrasse, called "Beyond Saloon" (Neue Rothofstrasse 13-19, 60313 Frankfurt - google maps!).

All cocktails only 5 euro between 6-9pm!

Also, one of our longest serving regular members "Nick60599" or "Purple Nasty Nick" is leaving, so we need to give him a good send off!

Any newbies PM me if want to join.

I have never heard of anybody being mugged in Frankfurt and always thought it was reasonably safe. Hope this doesn't taint your picture of Frankfurt now...

Mind you I was in such a state myself I probably would have just given a thief my bag so if you were anywhere near as bad as me not in a position to do much about it.

Oh and for the future I think there are night buses that go to Wiesbaden

Well after much pestering from Simon (he once told me that myself not being on Toytown was preventing us from being better friends (this was about 4am in the morning and after many a beer (but nevertheless!)))
