I absolutely swear by these guys: Wiesn Tracht & Mehr. Go to the shop in Tal and ask for Daniel, mention the Americans who bought the Tracht for the absent youngest son for the older son's wedding.
Mr. Brain, you being dark yourself I would recommend dark-ish pants, possibly with colored embroidery. You can get away with it. And please, not a gunny-sack shirt with huge, unmotivated buttons. White or chequered are the only options.

They sorted me out no dramas with everything I needed. Nice folk too.

I think a vest like this might look sharp:
sarabyrd
You get the vest, I have dibs on the guy.
mrbrain
I'm thinking darkbrown, not capris or short shorts, but knee-highs; white shirt and then maybe the vest. i have darkbrown hiking boots that look traditional, so i think i can sport those instead of buying the shoes.

Sounds good to me... a bit posh though. smile.gif

Sounds to me like you are trying too hard to look cool. I think you have already spent far too long considering the options. Just buy the cheapest that fits!

Then again I look a dork whatever I wear, so the above principles actually apply to all my clothing purchases.

Quit saying "capris".. what the fuck are these anyway? (no, I don't really want to know)

Geton-on-your-Wikipedia is your friend:

and if Mr. Brain really wants a pair of these, he is more of a whoopsy than we already suspected:

DJ_Jazzy_Guff
A vest/waistcoat is for those that like to sit down in the quiet tents and talk shit. A shirt and a decent pair of lederhosen is all you need Mr Brain to stand on the tables, dance, get pissed and talk shit. The choice is yours (name the TV show UK TTers!!)
Moonboot
no jacket mrbrain that's not a good look. lederhosen, red checkered shirt (blue also good) and your boots = ace.
after a few Mass you'll be immune to the cold, it's called a BeerJacket where we come from.

They are great there, got a new dirndl a few weeks ago from them. The man was very helpful in finding me the right blouse to, well, yeah, fit! rolleyes.gif

JE - what the fuck are you on about? You're sounding almost as gay as Brain - THIS is a Capri:
mrbrain
I'll be checking out Wiesn Tracht & Mehr as well as Angermaier afterwork today or tomorrow. I'll think twice about the vest or jumper.

Thanks for the advice.

p.s. I can't wait for that first sip beer... only 8 days, 20 hours, and 1 minute to go!!!

@mrbrain
Thought you might like to go for the hat too! wink.gif

Brokeback Munich. Holy Jesus.

Mr. Brain might also like some aftermarket adjustments:

You freaks can have fun bonding over your easy access Unterhosen. I'll be chasing around these:

Gotta love the porno Dirndl!

Is he your inspiration, by the way?

Course he knew his stuff, he's gay. I met another TTer (female) there, she was shocked at how he manhandled her equipment to give her clevage but liked the results.

So Daniel at Wiesn Tracht & Mehr sorted me out last weekend. I went for the longer lederhosen, capri's if you will, dark brown, with a nice navy blue and white checkered shirt. They were all very helpful at this store. I also recommend it for anyone searching for Tracht. See you this weekend!!!

Oh... and no vest.
Keydeck
'Cause they deserved to appear here too...

I have bought my pants here: http://www.gerberei-igl.de/ for 205 euro
from platonia-leder (its a young cow), it will become shiny.thats the authentic.
In the range of Munich you will only find "business-oriented" tracht (200 for all), not the original.
In Munich the only shop (I know), which is authentic: http://www.trachten-poellmann.de/grussgott.html , although they dont have platonia-lederhose, and they are not cheap. If you want to collect info, how a real tracht look like you can check out this site:
http://www.trachtenverband-bayern.de

Anyway, If you know more such "authentic" a shops in Bayern please PM, or post. Thanks!

My god, that looks like some cheesy scene from the days of Are You Being Served. Give me hip hop anyday than all that Tracht rubbish.
