Role-playing gamers around Mannheim and Heidelberg - Germany

Heyas,

I moved to the area a couple of months ago, and am finally organised enough to start looking for a friendly bunch of people to play RPGs with. I've mostly played D&D, but have also played Call of Cthulhu, Conan, SLAI, GURPS and a few other things. I also have some figures for Confrontation, if anyone still plays that. I'll try pretty much anything once!

I'm away from the 20th to the 6th, but it would be nice to meet up with people for a drink and a chat, probably in the New Year.

For a newcomer to the fantasy board game, it could seem complicated at first. Hang in there and if AW is a good DM, he'll guide you through nicely. I personally haven't touched that stuff since about 1982 but I do remember how complicated it was when I started.

@Ethan: Cool. I live over the river, about 10 mins stroll from the Luisenstrasse tram stop. I'd suggest we go for a meet and greet drink somewhere first, tho. Possibly the Woinemer Hausbraurei (sp?), which would probably be about midway.

@Odenwalder: No, no twister! No baby oil, either. But I do have a sudden, pressing need to get my hands on a copy of the DMG... Fortunately, things have become a little simpler since the early days, tho, so if you fancy a revival, give us a shout. Oh, and who says I'm a "he"?

Well, I might have taken ya up on that about 6 months ago. But shits happening so fast right now, I don't even know if I'll be in Germany on the 1st of February. These guys in PA want me to be there ASAP to start work. They just don't understand that there is a lot to do to leave Germany when you've been here for 19 years.

Well, I've been exploring other avenues as well as this one, and I've found a group that meets weekly in Darmstadt, which I've joined. The plan is to play D&D 3.5 in Forgotten Realms, starting at the beginning of February. I think the GM would like another player (he was looking for a group of 5, and I think he only has 4 confirmed at the moment). He also seems like a sound guy, as does the one player I've met so far. If that's within range for you, have a look here for more information: D&D meetup. You'll see the next meetup is in Frankfurt on the 2nd of Feb, and that'd be a good one to come along to, to meet and greet.
