Winter hike in Garmisch region

Hello friends and fellow hikers!

I'm planning a Winter hike in Garmisch this saturday.

It will probably be a relatively short hike due to the snow and lack of sunshine, but should be lots of fun none the less. I don't imagine we will reach a very high altitude once again due to the snow.

The basic plan is to get the train at around 10:00am, get to Garmisch by 11:30,

hike in the mountains for five hours, then get the train back to Munich at about 5:00pm.

By Wednesday at the latest I will email the exact meeting/departure times but it will be pretty close to what I have written above.

Hell yes, put me down. I'd like to attend! I have never been there before, any suggestions as to terrain conditions, other than snowy? What sort of snow/ice gear is needed? I'm fine clothing wise, but are snow shoes, etc needed?

Man, I wish I'd known there were going to be hikers to befriend around here - I left my boots, etc. back home in Texas. Let me know if any other trips emerge after the holidays though, and I'll be sure to lug my hiking gear back across the pond with me when I come back to Munich after Christmas. Have fun!

We arnt going to be doing anything too heavy. its going to basically be a leisurely walk. we may get a little height but you definately wont need any
special equipment!just hiking shoes and warm clothes, water and food.

Hello hikers! Here are the details for saturdays hike.

Meet: at 9:45am infront of the information centre outside hauptbanhoff (near the muller bakery and across from easyinternet)

Train: Get the train departing at about 10:32.(We'll have plenty time to get everyone together and get tickets)

Arrive at Garmisch: about 12:00 midday.

Hike: for about four or five hours.

Return to Munich: On about the 5:00pm train!

Arrive back in Munich: at about 6:30-7:00pm.

Cost: We'll get a Bayern ticket and split it so at the most 10 euros return.

Bring: Warm clothes! and of course hiking shoes with decent grip, water and food.
I'll bring the maps!

Please be on time! If you want to return to Munich earlier(but I think it wouldn't be worth going back early anyway) thats OK, but we
Can't all go back just for one person, so you'll have to pay your own way.Of course if you return with the group you don't need to worry.
