My LCD TV picture has stripes

What could be causing this?

we bought a LED TV last week

plug everthing in .. works fine..

BUT! we have horizontal transparent strips which distort the image and move up or down depending on the channel. SAT1 is really bad!
the strips are not there when a DVD is running...

anyone an idea?

Never heard of an LED TV. ( But I know I am out of date w.r.t electrical stuff smile.gif )

But it sounds like a TV reception/signal problem.
The signal seems to be bad or not well connected so there is disruption.
Check the cable and maybe the antenna in the house.

Since DVD's are fine, the TV seems to be OK.

How do you receive your German TV channels:
Satellite, antenna or cable?
Analogue or digital?

Actually, LCD displays are starting to use LEDs for their backlights (I've just heard of it for notebooks since they are focused on power savings). I don't think this is what he meant though.

Hmm, assuming for a moment that the cable signal is OK, you should probably check that the antenna cable to the TV is routed as far away as possible from any other cables, especially power cables. Check the fine tuning on the TV station if your TV offers that facility (this is unlikely to help if it's the same on all channels).

If you live in a block of flats, it wouldn't hurt to find out if your neighbours have the same problem with their cable reception. If not, it would at least rule that out.

Edit: What resolution is the screen? Or alternatively, what model of TV?
