Connecting another person's iPod to my iTunes

Will this delete their songs? Is it allowed?

I want to connect a friend's ipod into my itunes in order to burn a cd for them. Will this cause a problem? I heard rumors it won't work ..

It will ask you to format their ipod and replace their music with yours.. You need a 3rd party program to pull songs off of their ipod. Ipodutil is the one i used but it was some time ago..
