A "Scheck E.v." letter from the Stadtsparkasse

I got this from my bank, but what does it mean?

Got a letter from Stadtsparkasse. Its more like a card thing you might have got if someone came to read the meter but you werent home, came in envelope properly addressed to me though.

Anyway, it has my konto nr. and stuff.

and options:

Sie erhalten Anlagen:
wie besprochen
mit Dank zurueck

Mit der Bitte um:
Kenntnisnahme
Anruf
Bearbeitung
Unterzeichnung
und Rueckgabe

I put in bold what they have ticked.

I assume this means I have to call them. But any idea what it could possibly be about?

Ive never had such a thing from a bank.

And because it has something to do with a bank, i am worrying sad.gif

With a standard, most basic account with Sparkasse, my card wouldnt work if i had no money left would it?

I went food shopping tonight and it worked fine.

So not going into the red or whatever...?

That said I told them a while ago I was closing it down in mid-end Dec so perhaps they noted that and were phoning to check...

What were the "Anlagen" that they sent back? If your account isn't overdrawn, I am guessing that they just want to "sell" you a loan or some insurance. I get loads of post from banks esp. the CITIbank (have no idea where they got my address!) Just call them. Since its the end of the year - they probably just want to make some cash off of you.

errrm... now that you mentioned...

sorry, i didnt explain that too well.

the "Sie erhalten Anlagen" (and then those two options at the top) didnt have the boxes next to it ticked.

the only one ticked was the "mit der Bitte um"... "Anruf"

so nothing was sent back.

what it probably means is that the cheque someone gave you and which you put into your account bounced. The money credited to your account is always "E.v." meaning "Eingang vorbehalten" roughly translated "under the condition that the cheque goes through at the other bank. Since it apears that the cheque bounced they will need to talk to you that you do not have this money anymore and that you might have to pay in money to balance your account now.
