We were thinking about putting Sunday pub roasts onto McLean's menu as of January. But before we actually do this I would like to find out if there is any Interest out there in us doing so. As far as I know there is no other pub in Hamburg offering it. The turtle used to do it but I am not sure if they still have it as the information on their website is very old.

We were at the Turtle once, it was very nice, we would surely be interested if you were offering it.
Finnegans were offering suckling pig on various Sundays, it was usually quite busy - but then again there was often footy on that day, and there's the quiz in the evening...
Might be worth a try

Hey Stormbringer 1690,
We would probably come once a month. My hubby is usually there every week for games (Graham -Liverpool fan). What time of day are you thinking of?

Would there be a vegetarian (or poultry) option as there will be at your Christmas lunch? My husband and I would probably tag along with Steph0313 if there was something there for me to eat (non red meat eater).

Regarding the time we thought about offering it from 13h to 18h every Sunday, changing the kind of meat from week to week - so one week roast beef with yorkies, the other lamb, roast pork and so on.
And of course there will be a vegetarian option available.
Definite interest here!! I've always wondered why there is such a roast gap in Hamburg...

OK, folks, now that Christmas and New Year is over and everybody back to work, the smoking banned from the main pub area (we still have a separate smoking room) McLean's will finally get round to set up the first Sunday roast day.
It'll be on Sunday 13.Jan. and we'll start with a classic Roast Beef, yorkshire puds, spuds and green beans. There will be a vegetarian option as well.
The roast will be served between 13h and 17h.
Reservations are nice but not necessary

Roasting gap? We roast regularly at home - but we eat it all ourselves

@Stormbringer1690:
do you have kid high chairs?

yes, one
I am the king of roasts... but my place in HH doesn't have an oven...
Still I have been going roast-crazy since I've been home for the festive season - turkey, cow, sheep, pig, duck and chicken have all felt the fire of my oven in the last three weeks.
I'd volunteer to be your roast cook but I tend to like to do things like put fennel in my pork etc which might not be traditional enough for you...
Sami,
I've got an oven.. let's do some cookin. small kitchen though...

SB - what will you be charging for the Sunday Roast?
Stormbringer1690
Jan 8 2008, 2:41 pm
The main course will be€ 8,00. Starter soup, cock-a-leeky, and also dessert, apple crumble, will be € 2,50 each. So 3 course meal is € 13,00. The roast will be served from 13h to 17h. Normal menu is still on offer.
Regarding sport we'll have that on the screen round the corner so that the main area is sport and also smoke free.
@sami, was that an offer to cook for us?? Before I'll take you up on it for the pub I'd have to test your food first
You could come round and help out with the BBQ on Australia Day (26th Jan).

Tor, sounds good!
Stormbringer... I wasn't thinking about it like that, but hey, fit's always an option, don't know if I would commit to it as a regular thing though. BBQ could be a goer though, I love a good BBQ. As well as Roast King I am also a BBQ marinade king!

Storm,
In the football thread, you said that you guys are going to be showing both NFL games tomorrow. Will you be open until the end of the 2nd game, which should be over at about 4 in the morning, and will you still be serving that delicious sounding lamb (or any other food on the menu) during the games?

Jan 20 2008, 10:24 am
Hi Alex,
we will be open till the end of the second game.
Whether or not we'll serve the lamb at time of the night entirely depends on wether there still will be lamb left over, whetzher Wiebke will be still round when you get hungry and what you want to eat ...

Right guys, after doing Roast Beef, lamb and some pork we have noticed that you seem to favour beef followed by lamb. or is it that after 3 weeks your taste for roast is fulfilled?
Anyway, we continue with this and have roast beef, yorkshire pudding and the rest available for you on Sunday.

just a reminder, we're still doing the sunday roasts and for a change in the usual rotation we're serving up venison tomorrow, a crumble for dessert and soup or a salad as a starter.

We have noticed that the interest for the roast has drastically gone down. WE will therefore no longer offer Sunday pub roasts.
