Visa expiry after living six months out of Germany

Advice on how the rule works exactly

Hello All,

has any one got information about the rule which states that " Aufenthalterlaubnis expires if one lives outside Germany for 6 continuous months"
My wife is in India at the moment due to birth of our child. Though we are in the process of getting Visa for the new born, but I am not so hopeful that it will come within the time limits. She would complete 6 months in India on 5th of January 2008. Will her Visa be expired after that?
Is it possible that she comes to Germany for a couple of days and goes back to India again. Will that start the 6 month period again ?
couple of days will be enough or she will have to stay some "minimum" days in Germany before going to India again.
OR
Is there any way that ABH issues a letter stating that my is staying away more than 6 months "purposefully".

Hope someone can provide some information

Thanks in Advance

Maybe, but prob. not. I'm sure theres some rule/law about this..

The best (And Only) thing you can do is to submit a letter to the Authorities (KVR) explaining the situation and ask
for an exemption to the 6 month rule. Most of the time they will grant it esp. seeing as it due to family issues. But
don't wait to do it as the processing time maybe long and you don't want to miss the expiration date.
