Can insurance debt negatively impact work permit?

Returning to Germany after getting into debt here

So, I studied in Germany from September 2005 - August 2006 and had health insurance through Techniker Krankenkasse. The first semester, I paid everything I had to, but the second semester I realized I hadn't gone to a doctor, and wasn't going to, so I didn't pay the circa 300 Euro coverage fee I had to. Plus, I was leaving the country for what seemed to me at the time like forever, so I didn't worry about it.

Well, I now was offered a 1 year internship in Germany. My question is, as I apply for a work visa, and whatever else I've got to do, is there a possibility of the debt I have to TK to negatively impact me? Does that information flow around somehow?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

So, you screwed the system and now wonder if you are a human being or a system screwer. Guess what, I hope it comes back to haunt you. Young and stupid ain't no way to go through life. My suggestion is settle the debt and stop trying to scam your way through life.

@txmx,

Did you not learn anything about Germany? When it comes to keeping records and using them this country is top of the league. So expect your debt to be sitting on the credit list. I think it is called schufa.

Be proactive and ring up and find out and more importantly settle it before it impacts on the chances of you getting a visa.
