€35.10 billed, €35 paid - Good idea?

WOW, I heard of not tipping, but never, not paying the full amount, which is what really happened.

If I was the waitress, I would have gotten my big, burly manager and had them escort you out, and not let your group come back ever again.

@ Grinner - To be fair, the title of your post actually asks the question "Leaving a tip: Rounding DOWN!, €35.10 billed, €35 paid - Good idea?" - I think most of the responses you have received give a fairly direct answer to this question

The Title was modified by someone other than yours, truely.. huh.gif

The question clearly does not ask for an oppinion, just if anyone had done his..

I know it was not the correct thig to do, and I will complain in a better fashion next time.

@yomomma, read the T+C of the forum, Personal attacks are alegedly out of order..

Arrogance comes with acheivement.. I have acheived all I need, therefore, I suppose arrogance is acceptable, in my case, anyway.

If you arent arrogant, maybe you havent acheived much in your life, yet. ohmy.gif

It is NOT OK. Glub help you if you'd tried that with me. The nicest thing you might've heard from me is, "No, it isn't."

Servers in most places here do depend on tips, though not as much as in the YouEss. I tend bar and tips are expected to be around 10%. That comprises about 40% of my pay. Another 30% comes from a share in the total ring and the last 30% from the base pay.

By not tipping, you're not telling the restaurant anything, only the waiter or bartender. You took €0.10 out of his pocket and I rather doubt that with a €35 tab you needed it more than he did.

woof.

get real, the service was shit and very slow. If you can't take that out on the waiter who can you take it out on?

Besides, the waiter wouldn't have been able to give change for the hundred Euro note that Grinner would have given him. And as Grinner has already said, when the service is normal (normal not GOOD) he always leaves agood tip.

Tipping is a GRATUITY NOT A GOD DAMNED RIGHT so get off you high horse.

rant over (having a bad day and taking out on you)

Unless it says so on the menu, service is not included anywhere in Germany. That's why, with most Oktoberfest Biermarken, you have to pay an additional €0,64 -- service. The difference is that there, they set the service price. Most bars and restaurants don't, but expect an average of 5-10%.

Service was shit? Fine, Don't tip. But to short-change the guy is just plain wrong. I'm sure they could've managed to break the 100 somehow. If not, it's up to the restaurant to say "screw the dime".

It's a little different
