I'm worried about my missing salary! The bookeeper apparently transferred it into my account on Monday 26th November and so far nothing:( Is is usual for bank account transfers to take so long here? btw...this is a transfer between two FF banks...not even from one part of the country to another.

It sometimes happens that transfers are credited retroactively (i.e. they appear on your account with a few days delay, but an earlier value-date). Even in such a case, for online transactions the crediting should not take longer than 3 days (and most times it should be credited the following day after close of business). If it's not on your account after close of business tonight, I think you have a reason to check up on it tomorrow.

It normally takes 2 days for intra-bank transfer...For inter-bank, maybe you can add one more day...It is the case, even if you do online-banking...Some things are still medieval and it sux..! happy.gif

Normally it would take no longer than 3 working days, so you would expect to be able to see the money in your account today at the latest, but it depends on what balance your bank is quoting to you eg. last night's balance, or the current balance.

Whether you will see anything after close of business again depends on when that balance is updated.

If it isn't there in the morning, you definitely need to shout, but seeing that's the last day of the month and a Friday it might be worth checking with your bank today anyway.

German banking regulations require that a standard Überweisung/transfer in Euros between two German based banks take no more than 3 working days from receipt at the transferring bank. In most cases it's less. German banks consolidate between themselves twice every working day, so it's often the case that a transfer initiated electronically (e.g. by online banking) in the morning will be in the recipients account later the same day or the morning of the following one, especially if the transfer is between customers of the same bank. If the transfer is paper based the 3 day rule still applies, but the it might stretch to 2 or 3 days as the paper request must be transferred into the electronic system which delays the process. European transfers in Euros should also be completed within 5 working days, but are also usually less. Using the "Worldpay" system I have been able to transfer both to and from UK banks the same day (but only when the transaction is Euro to Euro).

Note that some large companies submit salary consolidation to their bank in bulk earlier in a month and specify a release date (to be sure the payments arrive on the same day). This can mean that salary department can say that "the transfer has been made", when in fact it's waiting for release...

so, a transfer done at 8.30am this morning from one of the little machines next to the geldautomats in sparkasse should or could get to a hypo bank account by this afternoon...?

Same day interbank crediting is rather unlikely.

its a bit early in the morning for me, got a bit confused between intra and inter and other stuff on this thread.

i think there is a good chance given what my last statement says though.
