I know this is a long shot but I am feeling patriotic and have decided (allbeit maybe a little late

) to get a Welsh flag for the Wales v. England game in GM's on Saturday.
Anyone got any ideas where I would have a chance of finding one of these in Munich at short notice?

Yeah bring one, we need something to laugh at!!

Only Kidding.
Shame 'Lily' Savage isnt playing, I frickin hate him!!
Theres a Tatt shop up near the top of
Kaufingerstr. which I am sure I saw a Scotland flag in? Try there for starters.

You won't need the flag to laugh at when you see our football - ooops that wasn't too patriotic!

I think there's a shop that sells flags in the Stachus shopping centre. Go into the
Karlsplatz S-Bahn entrance on Kaufingerstr (not the entrance at
Stachus itself) and it's on the left in the passageway when you walk further up towards the main part of the underground bit.

Of all the questions I've asked, or seen asked, this has to be the most futile. I wouldn't know where to get one in London, let alone Munich.
EDIT - but Malc knows a flag shop - I'm frankly fucking shocked. bet they haven't got a welsh flag though.

Some guy ran the Munich Marathon last year with a big Welsh flag hanging down his back like a cape. Don't know if he shipped it over, but he looked local. (don't ask me to explain, but if you have lived here long enough, you should know what I mean)

Jimbo, get serious, you can buy a Welsh flag at virtually any souvenir shop in London. That is where I bought mine (ehem).
The futility of the exercise is not the finding of the flag but the waving, cos you can wave all you want it is still gonna be a rugby score!

I found a place on the web that sells them in Hamburg but still a bit far to go i think.

Owain - no shops near me sell 'em - London, the greatest and wealthiest city in Europe, is, in case you had forgotten, in England and not Wales, hence the disturbing but understandable lack of Welsh flags. I'll go and have a look at lunch tho - if I find one does anybody want me to buy it and DHL it over?

@Jimbo How true, and that is the reason why I couldn't work out why earlier you seemed to think that Welsh flags would be easier to find in London than Munich
@K6ROW I'd pop along to check out that place at
Stachus if I hadn't already had my lunch break for today. If you are still feeling needy tomorrow then let me know and I'll hop along. If I find one then of course it will commit me to actually coming to watch the game...

Probably a few Welsh flags about from the early 1400's when the English whipped Owain Glyndwr's ass and finally shut the moaning fucking Welsh up.

Was that the same flag as the greeny white dragonny thing? (Serious question). I know I shouldn't ask coz our very own modern-day Owain will bloody know the answer

If you can't find one in a shop in Munich, you could buy one online
here or
here.
And there's a whole load of info about the history of the welsh flag(s)
here. (You have to scroll down to Wales. Can't be arsed to copy & paste all the individual links).

Right - it's lunch time, and Leicester Sq. is just over the road. I shall report my findings in just over an hour.

I found a few german web sites that sell the flags (
one even offerred me a large choice of sizes) but the game is on Saturday, no chance of getting delivery by then. But if i have no joy this time I can always buy one for the next match.

I remember seeing a Welsh shop in Munich in the gay district somewhere around Cornelius/Fraunhofer/Müller strasse but my memory is screwed so can't remember where exactly, and I could be totally mistaken.
Maybe this will jog someone's (good) memory.

i seriously did buy mine in Leicester square (or just off it) honest, and i did see em all over the place. This was last May. It was your average souvenir shop on a corner with all the usual crap (t-shirts, sweaters, phone boxes, taxis, buses on all types of stuff and yes also flags. Welsh flags folded up into a little oblong platic box)

Just been sussing out the place that Malc mentioned. The good news is that it is exactly where he described (well almost, in fact it's on the right not the left) and is called the "Münchener Mausefalle". It's a hole in the wall so there's no chance of browsing, so you have to explain exactly what you want. By the time I'd done that (what do you want? what country? where's that?) I needed to sit down. I expect you Welsh guys are used to that but I'm not
Anyway the bad news is that they didn't have a Red Dragon. "Got a Scottish flag if you want" was the best they could do. I said no, I didn't want. And got a fleeting impression of what it must be like to belong to an oppressed minority.
@K6ROW Suggest you order one online after all. You might get it in time for the return fixture...

Why don't you just find a nice copy of one online and print it out on a colour copier? Reverse the image and print that out too. Glue together and voila, a Welsh flag.

@ Jeeves - thanks for all your efforts with this - i will buy a couple of flags on-line ready for the next match (and you a beer during the game for your efforts)
@UrbanAngel - eventually found that yesterday but no joy finding anything
@showem - good idea but new to the job and access to such printers is limited (especially in about A1 or A2 size which is the approx size of flag i would have liked)
@everyone - thanks for your suggestions (apart from jimbo who was just stirring as usual

)
Oh well will just have to do with my welsh rugby shirt! Probably see you all today at Juleps, or VBD's party or tomorrow at the game.
