So i was browsing the inter-web for some ideas on activites to engage in while in Düsseldorf next month and stumbled upon this forum. Can i get a top 5 list of things a traveler on a business trip to Düsseldorf should do while in town for a week??

Thanks and Go Gators - Teabow for Heisman!

1) Drink Altbier and try to scrog German girls

5) Drink Altbier and try to scrog German girls

It's that or try to find your bowl game on TV. I'd stick to recommendations 1-5

Thanks .. so really not that much different than being in Gainesville ... except replace German girls with College girls?

What's the weather situation like this time of year?

Hey Andy,

I am from Chicago, so I am certainly used to the cold weather. Although, I have already found Düsseldorf to be milder than Chicago. Weather will likely be 25-30 farenheit and cloudy; that seems to be the status quo around here. As for suggestions on what to do, there are a few:

- Certainly hit up the Altstadt (Old Town) - full of restaurants and bars (250 of them...at least that is the published number).
- Drink some Alt bier...the local brew.
- Check out the shops around the Altstadt and Königsalle.
- Go to the Christmas Market (weinachtsmart) and have some Glühwein (spiced, hot red wine).
- If you have time, take the train down to Cologne (only 25 min away) and check out their Christmas Market and the city center/dome.

Also, apparently they have guided "Alt Bier" tours around Düsseldorf...might be worth checking out. Although, I am not really sure how good the tour is:

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestions! Would it be inappropriate for a transient to try to arrange a meet-up??? I'd love to try to get with some of you and learn the in's and out's of the town. At the very least, I make a great drinking bud! If anyone is interested let me know here or with a PM. I'll be in town Sunday December the 9th - Saturday the 15th. I can fit in most social settings but prefer a pub or martini bar smile.gif

Sorry to hijack this thread but if anyone's planning to take Andy around Düsseldorf, can I join in? I've only seen its airport and I live close by (Essen). It'd be a shame if I missed a free tour. ;-)
