Hi all.

Next summer, my fiance and I are planning on moving to Preetz, so I'm wondering just how much I should expect for us to spend per month? From what I've heard, the average price for an apartment (warm) that is enough to accomodate two or more people is around 500€, which is what we'll aim for.

As for insurances, I pay 60€ a month for health insurance and 5,24€ for liability insurance. When we move to Preetz, my fiance may have the same insurances, so altogether, that's 130,48€. So far, that's 630,48€ monthly.

Right now, we're living with my fiance's parents (and it's driving him nuts, by the way). He is in his final year of schooling before A-Levels and is self-employed, running an electronics business called "Westerhold Elektronik e.K." As for me, I'm a freelance article writer and make 500€ each month, but I've been invited to the training orientation with accelingua GmbH in a couple of weeks from now, so I should (hopefully) be making quite a bit more after that. Does anyone happen to know how much they pay, by the way?

We have the occasional Döner, which costs no more than 10€ for both of us (drinks included) in Preetz. I would think we spend no more than 30€ a month on eating out. As for cooking, we both enjoy it, so we could get by without eating out at all, if we needed to.

But since we don't have experience with buying groceries for ourselves here in Germany (we only have experience with that in Arkansas, which was about $200 a month for both of us together), what would you estimate for two people for each month? Mind you, we don't eat fancy stuff, really. I'm skinny and don't eat much (according to my fiance o.0), while my fiance is a moderate eater.

Also, would it be a good idea to let someone else stay with us if we had an extra room? How much would you charge that person for rent and eats?

Any other advice would be helpful, as well...
