Can I get my money back via a bank transfer?

I contacted somebody about 2 weeks ago on the forum here about buying some drivers licenses tests. I sent her 32 Euros via a bank transfer, and she acknowledged that she got the transfer and would "send them out today." That was 12 days ago on November 14. I have yet to receice the tests in the mail, and my PM's to her have gone unanswered.

Is there any way to reverse the bank transfer? Am I worrying too soon? If she sent them out I should have gotten them last week, so now I'm wondering if I was scammed. I had been giving her the benefit on the doubt, but it's been almost 2 weeks. Granted, it's only 32 Euros, but I'd rather not just give money away.

I'm not eager to name names, etc. now, but I am interested in either getting what I paid for or getting my money back.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do now? Thanks!

Yes. If your PMs have gone unanswered then contact the site administrators to get a contact name and/or e-mail address. Tis not rocket surgery.

I'm not sure if the admins are legally allowed to hand over such information?

Has the person you bought the goods from been active on the forum since? Just click on their profile and it will tell you when they were last active, so at least you will know if you're PM's have been read.

I tracked the PM's, and they haven't been read yet. She was last active on Nov. 16th. I have her name and bank account number since I did the transfer, but is there anyway to go through the bank or something to reverse the transfer? I of course would like to hear back from her first, but I think it's been long enough.

And turn on "tracking" on a PM. That was you know when it is opened.

Is she a previously active member on the site or just someone who appeared once with the papers for sale?

They're not.

I'm pretty certain you can go to the bank and get the money back, but they will probably charge you to do so.
Geldar
Thanks. I'm sure the bank would charge me more than what it cost! I guess I'll sit tight for another few days, and then maybe try to get another contact email/phone number for the person - she lives in Munich and has posted in the meet-up forums, so somebody here is bound to know her. Thanks for the help.

Don't think you can get the money back, I ordered something from a German website & didn't get it so went in to the bank (DB) to see if they could stop or reverse the transaction but they said no as I paid the money to them. Maybe just my bank though so it's worth a try.

They're not.

And even if we were legally allowed, we probably wouldn't.

Geldar: Please send a PM with a link to the advert and we will follow it up.

I have a vague memory of doing this many years ago, but I could be mistaken, worth asking though. There are laws about buying stuff online, but I don't suppose they apply to private individuals, perhaps you could sue Editor Bob! ph34r.gif

Have you considered the fact that, god forbid, she died...in a car crash?

FT,
Fortunately it was not that bad. Of course as soon as I start complaining, I get a nice email from her. She was busy and forgot to send it and then went out of town. My bad. Fortunately I had the self-restraint to not publicly name her and trash her on the forum, so that is at least a positive smile.gif I should be getting my purchase in a few days.

you can only reverse an "Überweisung" if you put the words "mit Vorbehalt" on the Überweisung.

Not true.. You can recall any Überweisung for any reason up to 30 days (Sometimes more).. If your bank states otherwise, then thats their policy and not the general
law/requirement/etc. The only way you might not get it back is if the account you sent it to doesn't have the required funds. If your bank doesn't/won't offer this service, then it might be time to find a new bank.

A planned/scheduled transfer (DauerAuftrag), can't be recalled as far as I know without lots of extra paperwork and hassle.

You may also even reverse a payment made via online banking. Most banks will require you do this in person and will usually
only do it if there was a mistake with the xfer. (Wrong acct. details, wrong amount, etc.)

You can definitely do it online with Sparkasse. I've had to do it a few times with re-sellers on Amazon who've not delivered the goods.
