Ordering a European-made car via the U.S.

Taking advantage of the exchange rate

Hi!
With the US$-rate as it is these days this idea must have ocured to a few around here

I'd like to order a european-made car in the US through manufacturer's "overseas delivery", pick it up here, and when the temporary registration runs out - re-register and keep it in Germany. I understand I'd have to pay VAT, go through TUV and emissions, possibly some conversions of the US-spec'd car. However it still seems to come out a lot cheaper than buying one here on all of the brands in question BMW, Audi, Volvo, etc... wink.gif

Has anyone done this? Did you encounter any problems with customs or anything else?

Thanks in advance!
