Na!
Why does it seem as though almost all of the folks here live in places like Munich and the Bavarian area of Germany? I've seen only a couple of people who state that they're from Schleswig-Holstein... and most of them are much, much older than I am. Are there any other folks here who also live in SH?
After being in Germany for nearly five months, it starts getting a bit lonely without any other English speakers around...

I'm not exactly your age

but I guess that most people who live in S-H are in the Hamburg commuter-belt and put themselves down as 'Hamburg'. Which part of S-H are you in? I know there are a few English-speaking expats in Kiel and Lübeck but I guess more are in HH and in S-H North West of HH working at Airbus.
Munich/Frankfurt has more expats just because of the type of companies and opportunities (IT/Finance) for expats in those cities.

I'm 10 years older than you, and live in SH...but usually look for things to do in Hamburg. If you want to meet up for a beer some evening I'd be happy to, if I'm not too old

Oops, I thought no one had posted on here..! ^^;
I'm currently living in Pohnsdorf, which is right next to Preetz and pretty close to Kiel. When I last went to the immigration office in Ploen, I was told that I was their very first American to ever register in the state -- lonely fact, nyeh?

I very much doubt you're the first American to register in Schleswig-Holstein... First in the Kreis Plön maybe.
But you're correct. I guess that outside of the Hamburger Speckgürtel there aren't many expats. I know there are a couple of English in Lübeck and 1 or 2 in Kiel. I guess there may be 1 or 2 in Flensburg and one or two dotted about in other places. There isn't much in most of S-H to attract expats (ie jobs with international companies) except the love of their life, who they met somewhere else.

Well, I’m sort of a middle-aged fart :-D. I live in Lübecks’s city centre … and enjoy living here. Mind you, I have a daughter (an - early- twenties - fart ;-)) ) who would most probably enjoy a bit of company as she is also new in this … how shall I put it … medieval, but also quaint, full-of-pointy-buildings and quite lively town.

Now they're all coming out of the woodwork!!! 10 years living between Hamburg and Lübeck and I wouldn't need all of the fingers on one hand to count the number of native-Engish speakers I have met living in Germany!

My gf is from Bad Segeberg, but moved to Munich when she was little. We still visit the area about once a year to get our drink on with the relatives. I think her dad lives in Rickling, so that's where we stay usually...then a day or two in Neumuenster. Damn that area is flat.
I'm 3 times the age of OP so no use at all...

Just because I was looking for younger folks, that shouldn't keep you older folks from coming out from hiding. I'd love to meet you all, actually.

(And yes, I meant county, not state, sorry!)

Hello! I'm using a village near Segeberg as the base of my european travels where I'm staying with a relative. I arrived in Germany early April. I found this great site and I'm looking for work, but I'm a nice bloke who is always up for meeting new people!
