Howdy all,
I thought I'd go over to Amazon.de and get chinese checkers...well, putting in chinesische damespiel doesn't turn anything up. How do you say it? Does anyone play it?

try chinese chequers. the oroginal German name was Stern-Halma

I think it's mostly referred to as "Halma" without the "Stern"-bit, at least that's what we used to call it when I was a kid.

Halma is played on a square board whereas chinese chequers aka Stern-Halma is played on a star-shaped board-

Our boards were always star-shaped (never seen a square one), and still we called it "Halma".
But maybe that depends on the region of Germany one is from, no idea...
