Hi everybody!

Has anyone completed an LLM in a German university and if so how was it? Would you recommend it?I searched the TT website but do not appear to have found anything.

And on a related topic, has anyone successfully applied for and received a DAAD scholarship? Any tips for applying?

**Just in case anyone points me towards google, I have already checked out a few websites, I just want to hear anyone's personal experiences!!**

Cheers

Part of the reason for that would be that LLM is a very rare path to study law in Germany, and there's only little on offer.

The LLM is not an "official" graduate degree in Germany, and does not allow you to practice law in German-speaking countries (ie also not in Austria; there's some possibilities in Switzerland). Therefore almost all LLM programs at German universities are aimed at postgraduate deep specialization, in particular for commercial contexts (such as European Law, Intellectual Property Law).

A friend of mine who is American applied for and received both a DAAD and Fulbright scholarship, however she had to turn one down and she decided to go with the Fulbright as it is more well-known in the US. Not sure how she did it, she ahd good grades obviously and went to a private university in the States. However, she majored in philosophy, not law, it may also depend on the subject.
