Anyone interested in going 1-2 times a week to a Kletterhalle (like Magic Mountain near Gesundbrunnen S+U) and getting some climbing/exercise in? I'm a noobie but can belay and do basic routes. Check out
http://www.magicmountain.de/ to get an idea of the price and facilities.

im interested, i use to rock climb once a week in NY. How much is it?
Per session: 14 EUR before 2100 or 12 EUR after
Renting shoes and harness will add 6 EUR to that, unless you have them with you here in Berlin.

So not exactly cheap, but if you go and work out and get the sauna in, I guess it pays off. I'd be open to cheaper options of there are any. I'll check into a hall I've heard of in the Neukoeln area.
Also, when I was here a year ago, they wanted me to pass a brief safety test, which makes perfect sense, or pay some small amount of money to be taught the basics by an instructor. What would work in terms of scheduling. I can do Wed evening/night; usually Tues (but not this one).

I'd be interesting in joining you. Magic Mountain is a really nice climbing hall. Unfortunately, I live in
Steglitz, so it is too far to go for solo bouldering. But if there is a group going, I'd be better able to motivate. I've got some extra gear too that would help reduce our rental costs--a rope, a couple harnesses, a few quickdraws, etc...
I've got a little climbing experience, but I haven't really climbed in a year or more, and I'm pretty out of shape, so a group of noobies would be perfect for me.

There is also:
http://www.t-hallberlin.de/I have only climbed at MagicMountain, and it's nice. T-hall looked good the one time I peeked in the door--although it was a bit o' a hike from the nearest bahn station. Thanks for the tip on der Kegel, although it looks like it will be limited to bouldering during poor weather.
Motivated by this post I'm planning on going to one of these gyms, tomorrow (Sunday), and then again one evening this week. If anyone is interested pm me, or leave a message here on the thread, it would be fun to get a group together.

So, Tantea and I checked out T-hall today, and had a great time. It's a nice gym--a bit hard to find--but nice.
We will be going again this Thursday, if other folks want to join.
Meeting: 7:30pm at Sonnenallee bahn station, on the platform. And then hopefully we will be at T-hall by 7:40ish.
I'll be the guy with climbing shoes dangling from the outside of his backpack.
All are welcome, but please leave me a pm or a message on this thread so I know how many people to wait for at Sonnenallee.
Also, if anyone is interested in lead climbing, tell me and I will bring my rope. Otherwise, we will probably just use the supplied topropes.
Additional info:
Climbing costs 12.50 (+rentals), includes use of sauna
It's only 7.50, if you are only bouldering
Gym is open til midnight
Students discounts, etc...
Hope to see ya there!
sorry i cant make it.

Ok, so back to climbing for the year! Putting the call out to get a climbing group together to go to T-Hall next Wednesday, 30 January. Anyone interested?
The plan so far is to meet at Sonnenallee station at 7:30 then walk the 10 or so minutes to the hall.
Here's a link plus more info is in the threads above.

Is anyone still going climbing occasionally? I have dragged my shoes and harness half way around the world, if I dont use them at least once over here I will never forgive myself...
