Beginning January my husband, I and our dog will move from India to the area of Rostock. We are both German but fluent in English. we live in India since 5 years.

Now my husband will take over a new assignment in a small village called Hohen Luckow. We are looking now first for a holiday home, until our container arrives in Germany it will take in minimum 6 weeks and then for a house, not to small, with garden.

We would appreciate the surroundings of Bad Doberan. Has anyone an idea how to find such a place(s)?

Anyhow we will bring along a lot of English books and we are really keen to get in contact with the few expats of Rostock area as we are living in a very active and very international expat community here in India since 5 years.

I would have to look up the area, I know some of the rental companies for flats. But if you are looking for houses I am not sure. There are plenty immobilien places around just not sure which one deals with Bad Doberan.

There are only a few of use expats here. I am the most active on this community. though I have noticed that the international community is building up here with the University. Most in the KTV area.

I currently live in Warnemuende so that is the area I am best with.

I also brought over 200 English books with me, I couldn't part with them. smile.gif

Hohen Luckow is about 20km SW of Rostock on the road towards Bützow. During the DDR days it was a Stasi village with a large listening station, and time hasn't been kind to it since then, apart from the manor house which is where Angie took her guests for dinner during the G8 (I assume that none of the guests looked southwards out of the grounds)...

If you're looking for accommodation then the Ostsee Zeitung or the Rostocker Blitz wouldn't be the worst places to start, or the usual ImmobilienScout24 etc. The papers also accept "wanted" ads for houses and flats, or I'm sure you could find a Makler who would accept your money to find something.
