Has anyone ever received a blind call by someone offering to help you save money on your taxes? I keep receiving a call from someone from a company called Bund Freier Berater, who keeps wanting to set up an appointment with me so he can help me save money on my taxes. But the whole thing smells a little strange. He allegedly he got my name from HR, but he called my lab phone and not my desk phone, his company website is down, and he's always very vague when asked direct questions (such as he'll only give me a general location for his company, and not the exact address).
My gut is telling me this guy is a scam, and not to bother. But I just want to see if anyone else has had a similar experience in the off chance this guy is legit.

Did he claim to be a tax consultant or lawyer? Only a few professions are allowed to give advice on tax related matters. And I doubt they would do telephone marketing. It´s probably just someone trying to sell a "great" investment opportunity.

The Bundesverband Freier Berater e.V. seems to be a professional association of finance advisors. I doubt that they'd be cold-calling potential customers; in fact I'm pretty sure that kind of telephone sales isn't legal. Sounds very doubtful.
(If you want to save taxes, find a Steuerberater or Lohnsteuerhilfeverein).

@UrbanAngel, that website's actually a different one than the guy that's calling me. Your site actually looks legit.
Thanks for the comments, doubt I'll be getting any "tax advising" soon from this guy...
