Can anyone recommend a good masseuse in Munich? Not too expensive? I suffer from alot of body ache from stress and have been looking for a good traditional massage but just can't find anything.

I'd love to find an independent person who could even come to my home... but I won't be picky... except that I'd prefer a woman ;-)

Thanks!

You can get massages at most swimming pools... I know they have them at Olympiabad and the Dantebad.. Don't think they're too expensive but I've never tried one so can't say how good they are.

I can recommend Anja Beck although I think her prices are pretty standard for massage which generally aren't too cheap. Prices are roughly 1 EUR per minute.
She has a website you can check out at Anja Beck.
(in German only)

Don't know how good her English is but I would imagine it's passible. Don't think she does housecalls but she's around the corner from Bondi so it's pretty convenient.

Well, it depends on the kind you want. There is a girl at my gym that does them, but you will have tears in your eyes before she's done. She's good though. she gets all the tension knots out. I think she does house calls. My gym is called Sport Forum on Königswieserstr. in Fürstenried West. I'll get the number for you.

I recommend the Turkish woman at Dantebad. When I did my back in a year ago during an "Umzug" she set me right and quite cheap too.

While this topic is under discussion, does anyone know a good one in the northeast of Munich? I just had a massage yesterday in Ismaning. She was good and all, but it wasn't at all what I expected. I've only ever seen one woman for massage before, and that was back in the States. She was fantastic, played ambient music and really made you feel at home. The massage I had yesterday was in complete silence in what looked like a doctors office.

If you every want to treat yourself & your partner, then Go to Hotel Bayern in Tegernsee over looking the lake. If your stressed, it's the ultimate. They do the all sorts of Massages, with speacial lighting and music along with some sort of sonic vibration massage bed (Don't know what thats about). Followed by a swim and then diner in a top class restaurant overlooking the lake and you won't have a care in the world ...Well ... until you get the bill the next morning. V.Expensive, but for a special occasion or an escape from the rat race, it's worth it.

Does anyone know a good one in the Westend /Landsberger str Area ?

Ehmm… just to sort it out (sorry in advance for this german comment) cool.gif

If you want to have a massage in the medical way then you have to ask for a

Masseur (male) or Masseurin (female)

A Masseuse (female) is actually an other term for prostitute, means house calls possible, but definitively more expensive and no possibility to get this kind of service on doctor´s prescription.

Lomi Lomi is both a form of massage and a way of preparing Salmon. Both delicious. wink.gif

Can someone tell me a place that may take late hour bookings? I can take an appointment this afternoon at anytime.

Try the M-Bäder. Nordbad, for instance, has same-day appointment sheets on the second floor of the foyer, so you can make an appointment without paying an entrance fee.

I've dogsat for this new TTerin and during our 2 hour get-acquainted-walk with our dogs she told me about her training, how she moved from regular beauty treatments (which she still performs, including all sorts of waxing) to aromatherapy to cranial sacral massage and several other massage and healing techniques ( whose specialized names I've forgotten, but I believe include reflexology and Thai massage), which she employed at a Healing Center in England. She also does guided imagery and teaches meditation. She is a lovely and gentle woman, not to mention attractive, well-travelled and educated. And her 10 mo. old bearded collie girl is a darling!

"Not sure what you would like but I am an English Beauty Therapist/Aromatherapist. I have set a room within our apartment and have regular clients (who I can put you in touch with for a recommendation if you would like). I live in Schwabing but may be prepared to travel. My most expensive treatment is a full aromatherapy treatment which costs 60 euros and lasts between 1hr and 1 1/2 hrs. Currently in the process of registering with German authorities but my certificates are all recognised in Germany. Hope this is helpful. Regards Firefly"

Lomi Lomi (no idea what that it!)

Went for a Lomi Lomi massage yesterday at the Altira Spa in the Arabella Sheraton. Fantastic it was. It's very different to a standard type massage. Best 90 minutes I've spent in a long time. I will definitely be going back there.

I know what you mean. I've been getting a lot of massages in Northern California as well, and they always provide a nice ambience. And those I received here were mostly rather sterile. I enjoyed going to Harbin Hot springs where one has a choice of many different massage techniques, all great in their own ways.

I've taken a massage class in California myself and can offer it here as a service (can do house calls with a mobile table), but I'm rather the male type, i.e. not what the original poster asked for wink.gif

For my own pleasure I found a woman practicing hours every other week at the TU (Arcisstrasse). She's better than the average German masseur I've found so far, and is reasobably priced when you see here at the TU (15 Euros for each 20 Minutes). Yet, I'm still missing getting those 1.5 hours massages that take care of every part of your body (no, not the private parts, thank you very much) in an unrushed environment that makes you forget that you're in in the middle that busy city...
JOB
I know there have been threads regarding this before, but they are all fairly old.

Are there any massage parlours in the city centre that are.

a. Good.
b. You don't need an appointment i.e. I want to go to in the next hour or so.

Cheers,

J

most SWM swimming pools have a massage parlours, best check online.
Katrina
planetmoni is right - go to one of the public swimming pools. The massage place at Nordbad is excellent, I've used that myself, all of the staff are qualified masseurs (not the case in beauty parlours), plus they can do stand-bys and are reasonably priced.
MMKS locations, click through for available services and prices.

try zu frieden on Baaderstr. I've never had a problem getting an appointment at the last minute. Tel 13010380 or check out the website to see what's on offer (is English speaking too!!) www.zufriedenmunich.com

Not sure if this helps but an update. I am a British qualified Aromatherapist, also qualified in Swedish massage, meditation etc. I understand what you mean about massage here. I too recently went for a massage and imagined soft lighting, peaceful music and wonderful smelling work room. What I found was a clinical room, where I was asked to choose my own oils (which were not from reputable suppliers) and whilst lying there almost naked and uncovered I was cold and the couch was made for people to lie on their backs comfortably but when you turned over your legs were dangling in mid-air!! I was terribly disappointed. so I may offer what you expect or something closer to it so please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss further. I live in Sauerlach (S5). I do not do home appointments at this time but may be something I might consider. If you find another therapist that suits you better then no problem, hope you find help with you stressful aches and pains.

Nice topic. I live in New York City right now, and twice a month go for a traditional Tui Na style Chinese massage. It hurts a little bit, but in a good way. It also has really helped me with stress management and recovery from my workouts. Does anyone here happen to know if this style oif massage is available at all in Munich? I am really hoping so, as I'll be moving there this fall. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Has anyone ever been to "Auszeit" or "Santa Margarita" for a massage? I want to give a massage gift certificate as a birthday gift, and I am looking for a nice, somewhat fancy place that isn't excessively expensive. Other day spa suggestions are welcome too! Thanks.

I need a massage. Please make me a recommendation, preferably male because they have better hands, and someone experienced with dancers and athletes. thanks

Okay, lots of threads, but I'm just going to choose one to revive.

Are there any TT'ers out there who do home appointments? I live in Aldstadt (a block from the hofbräuhaus) and I am in dire need of a deep tissue back massage (got some crazy lactic acid build up and it's really quite discomforting). Not quite too sure what the exact terminology is, but the last certified massage therapist that I used to go to used her elbows and everything to break down the lactic acid bubbles or something like that. I go to the gym quite frequently but haven't played sports in a while so stretching hasn't been in my repetoire in a while (i.e. since I got here) so everything's gonna be tight.

Do you bring your own bed/oils/blankets/sheets/etc. and stuff? Or is the patient expected to supply anything on their end?

No funny business kind of appointments. Just a 1 (maybe 2) hour massage once every two weeks or so depending on your rates.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm primarily looking for a back, shoulders and head massage.

Thanks! smile.gif
