Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me. I currently have an issue at work with my working hours and if it is legal for me to be working alone in a shop for 6 hours with no break. Also, about notice of leave and paying them if I have broken the contract or something.

Could any body give me a link or a brief summary of working rules and regulations in Germany. There must be some, but they have never been passed under my nose.

Sorry if this was already discussed, but as this is my first job in Germany and have not many people here who can help me out, your help would be appreciated.

6 hours is exactly the legal maximum you may work without a break. For 6-9 hours, a 30-minute break has to be included; beyond 9 hours, 45 minutes is mandatory.

A summary of regulations, in German.
