Concert: Tommy Emmanuel @ Gernlinden (nr Maisach)

Tommy Emmanuel C.G.P. (Certified Guitar Player, a title given to him by the great Chet Atkins) is considered by some, including Eric Clapton and Steve Vai, to be the overall best guitarist in the world. He plays over 300 concerts a year all over the planet and for the second time is playing in Gernlinden, near Maisach (Munich). When I was there a couple weeks ago for a concert the organizer told me that 350 of the 500 tickets were already sold. So they are going fast!

Tommy is a born entertainer and commands the stage with only an acoustic guitar and his wit, charm and humor. Whether you are a guitarist or simply want a fun evening of wonderful music by the world's greatest guitarist in his PRIME get yourself a ticket. The tickets are general admission so get there early.

I'm going with 3 or 4 people and will have a late lunch/dinner beforehand. Others are always welcome!

This sounds good - not sure yet if I can make it though. I think you forgot to mention the date - I see from the link that it's on Saturday, December 8th. You might want to add that in the thread title.

I saw him many years ago back in Aus. Bloody Genius. There was a thread on here relating to the worlds best guitarist a few months ago. Surprised no one mentioned him. Pity that I'm not in town that day. Highly recommended.

bucket06, I actually did put Tommy in that World's Best Guitarist thread, but since he isn't a household name like Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix, nobody believes me! He is, in all honesty, breathtaking.

I saw him jump up with his brother who is brilliant as well at coffs harbour one night. He's insane, they did an ACDC tribute and a blues jam where he played a lot of SRV etc for an hour. Some bonus for turning up to a pub gig where we only knew his brother was on.

Ordered my ticket now. Might be dragging a few more people along. Hope we can find the place - web site says it's at the Buergerzentrum Gernlinden, but doesn't give the address, or did I overlook it? It gives directions to the Brauerei Maisach, but that's not Gernlinden, right?
