Saturday is considered a "Werktag" (work day)

So car parking is not usually free on Saturdays

I have just found myself a nice parking spot near Muenchner Freiheit where it says that I only have to pay on "werktags". As I walked away from the car, there were a lot of cars that had a fine on their windshield, and when I checked the machine where you pay, it says you have to pay from Monday to Saturday!

So, the street sign says only on "werktags", the machine says Monday thru Saturdays. Saturday shouldn't be considered a werktag!!

Not a battle you're going to win though. I assume they mean it in the sense of Sunday hardly anybody is allowed to work so it's considered the non work day.

Saturday IS considered a Werktag. Unless a holiday (1st May, Christmas, New Year) falls on it. Wikipedia is your friend.

White collar, eh?

Sometimes the parking is limited on Saturday until a specific hour, it's worth while reading the sign. Any day that you can shop on is considered a Werktag.
