Hello everyone,
I'm 25, British, and I live in Kassel. Well, I do for part of the time anyway. The other parts I'm away working.
I'd like to meet some people that can at least string a few English words together and like to have the occasional social tipple.

American here... after reading posts from the Kassel area, I'm getting a bit pessimistic about the possibility of finding English-speakers.

Well, this part of germany is God forsaken.. I am living in Angelburg with my german husband and 15 year daughter (also from melbourne)
which is 45 mins west of Marburg. I too miss english speaking friends. I am an 39 year old aussie from melbourne originally. I am starting up an english speaking group/club mainly for the areas south of kassel, east of Siegen. north of Frankfurt, and west(ish) of Fulda. I am throwing my fishing net out and seeing how many people would like to join up. Our first meeting is on February 27th in Biedenkopf, although I don't know where future meetings will be. I do know it will be n thew vacinity of marburg, as it is for me the capital of the god forsaken area (native english speaker wise) and plus I live about 45 mins direct west of marburg, and directly between Biedenkopf and Dillenburg. I have started a group on facebook, englush speakers ina nd around Marburg, but I will also be posting stuff here:)
I cannot invite anymor to the first meeting as it is full, but, I would love any native speakers, and those who are confident with their english to come and be a part of the english speaking community in this area.
The groups intentions, well, mainly to mix with other native speakers, but, for those who also like to speak english. To network, socialise, sharing resources, tips, have fun.. chill out, take a mental break:))
So far I have about 10 people coming to the group. they are like minded people. I want in the future to let other newcomers to the region know that they are not alone in their frustrations, trials and tribulations trying to fit in, in Germany.
If you ARE from kassel, Fulda, Siegen, and would like to join in further groups, you are most welcome. I am only thinking of the distance it would take. I would just love poeple to be a regular, so you can get the maximum benefits from being a part of us. The ages of the group range from 15 (my daughter might attend once she sees how it pans out:) and to somewhere around 65:)
they come from Australia, England, canada (I think), south africa, and a few from the States:)
see you!

Hi guys,
I am interested in joining an English-speaker group, too.
At the moment I live in Düsseldorf but I will be moving to Kassel in the near future. I am originally from Kassel, have lived in the UK for 4 years, so I am not a native speaker but
I miss the language terribly!
I would also be happy to help any newcomers in and around Kassel with any questions on living in Germany.
Traceyacey, would be great if you kept me updated! :-)

Hi Tranquility - have you moved yet? I will be moving to Kassel towards the end of the year or early in the new year. I am desperate to learn German but presently don't have the time to go to lessons. I am trying to use the online tools available, so I am getting a tiny bit of input, however, practising while I am there would also be a great help.
If you have managed to make contact with other English speakers in the area I would be interested in meeting with you all.

Hi Gingerpudding,
no, I haven't moved yet, it might not happen this year after all. :-(
But I am in Kassel on a regular basis anyway.
I have also received a message from Walster, so possibly we could arrange a meeting at some point? :-)

Hi Folks,
my first post in this forum, which I found by accident after living in Germany for 12 years - oh that it would have been here then!!
Traceacey - sounds like we're neighbours! How did your first meet up go?
In summer, there's the Marburg Stadtfest and other smaller fests held around and about - they could be good meeting points too

Hey bcollado, There are a couple of english speaking groups in Kassel. One is a Stammtisch organized by the International Womens Club. It meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month, from 19:00 at Casa Columbiana. The english level is very good here, with many native speakers. The other is a mixed gender group of mostly (very nice) Germans wanting to practice and improve their english. It meets on the 2nd Thurday of the month at 19:30, usually at Zum Ritter, and then again on the 4th Sunday of the month... at a different place each month. You're welcome to show up to either. If you are a man, I believe there is also a men's english speaking group, but I don't know anything about it. How long have you been here in Kassel?
