Switching a German-version Wii to English

Is this possible? And is the manual in English?

Anybody know if you can you choose English as a language on the German version?
Does the manual have English section,
Is sports game working in English?

Yes to all. (I'm pretty sure about the manuals in English, I think it comes with a lot of languages, but it is so dead simple I didn't read it exhaustively)

Just opened mine tonight from Germany, Yes on all counts, currently getting bought up in their thousands from amazon.de and such places as the UK shops have sold out. Most of them going for £270-£300 on Fleabay in the UK.
