Where to get a "Bloody Mary" cocktail in Hamburg

Suggested bars that serve good ones

Ok, in Chicago we drink Bloody Marys on Sunday -- All Day Sunday! And not just the plain tomato juice n vodka varity. We drink 'em spicy n salty with lots of 'stuff' in them (pepper, olives, celery, lemons, ect). So my question, where can a guy go and get a real Bloody Mary to cure a life threatening hang over in this town??? I tried to order one at Finns' but I just got this blank stare. <apparently Finns does not carry tomato juice> I almost went out to get a can of V8 to drink w/ a shot of vodka until I remember it was a friggen sunday and nothing was open...

On a lighter note, in anticipation of another life threatening hangover, who's up for Bloody Marys this sunday? blink.gif

Good luck, i've been in search of a decent bloody mary since I got here. Of course, like in your story, its always to chase away my sunday morning hangover when everything is shut down.

Most likely you'll find decent ones only at cocktail bars, not pubs...

There's a place in the Schanze that makes great one's...

I just wish I could remember where it was... sad.gif

There used to be a good cocktail bar in a tower of some sort over the road from damtor station and there's one in the tower hotel in Landesbrucke

@ lazybum - you are killing me...

@ goodlife - thanks for the recommendations. i've checked the web sites and all those places look cool, i will check them out. but maybe not for bloody marys. at the risk of sounding picky, they look too upscale for bloody marys. what i mean, a bloody mary is to cure a hang over. chances are that i'd be walking in unshowered, wearing last nights cloths (most likely slept in them) with a baseball cap pulled down over my eyes to shield the light. lol ok, i exaggerate a bit. but i'm just looking for a place to sit, read the paper, and recover a bit. does this make any since?

in any event, thanks for the help!

K chitown, will look for the guy who smells and looks unshowered when meeting next LOL

If you can't make your own, then you don't deserve to drink them. I will now make my own cause this and the oyster thread has got me drinking, uh, I mean thinking.

@ Finn - there is a little place in heaven for people like you. If you want sainthood you won’t forget the Tabasco!! tongue.gif (celery not so important) Now we just have to work on a vegetarian version of Irish Stew…

@ eurovol, believe me, when I was in the Rewe tonight I was close to buying some V8 and vodka (spelled with a V and not a W). But unfortunately I’m still in a friggin hotel!!! this sucks, no word on when I’ll go home and no word on how long I’ll stay . . . now I need a drink, wheres the minibar?

What exactly is a Bloody Mary meant to do for a hangover? Make you throw the contents of the previous night up?

^^^ Hair of the dog + plenty of vitimin C.
I love Bloody Marys but not usually a breakfast thing. Has to have lots of worcestershire sauce, course ground black pepper, and a decent scotch bonnet chilli sauce like Encona brand.

Of course, here you could just order 20 Kleiner Mexicaners and put them into one glass for a roughly similar effect.
