The difference with Germany is that they import common-denominator and fan-shows from the US and then instead of filling the rest with good local programming they proceed to fill it with badly and cheaply produced copies and nonsensical "docusoaps"...doesn't make sense but hey...

Just to add to the praise of Hape Kerkeling in his role as "Horst Schlämmer". His appearance in "Wer wird Millionär?" ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?") is just brilliant. Below are the links to Youtube

Without wishing to sound biased, it is hard to beat British/Irish/American humour, but that is not to say that other nationalities can identify with it, so wouldn't find it very funny anyway. If it's dubbed then of course it tends to take so much from it and so much is lost in translation. My favourite of all is Dawn French in the Vicar of Dibley, and of course the oldie. Faulty Towers. I loved the Office and so many more too numerous to mention. Most of these are on DVD on the net for anyone who hasn't already got a stash with them and is missing a good old laugh.

Just watched the U tube link thanks. It is hillarious I have to admit. Pity there was none of this when I lived there.
