Cancelling a T-Com contract early due to moving

Tips on how best to do this

I've got a 1 year telephone and internet contract with T Com. I'm six months into the contract. I've recently moved to a shared house which has a telephone and internet connection already set up. I'm trying to cancel my connection with T Com cos I really don't want to pay for two connections each month. I told T Com that I've had to move overseas for business. I'm not having much luck dealing with them at the moment. They have a very delayed response time like most telecom companies! Has anyone here ever managed to cancel a contract early with T Com? How? Any chance of me suspending the contract in the mean time?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You should be able to phone them up and get a list of the documents you have to provide them to prove you've left the country and that may well be the end of it, if you can get such documents. Send them with a letter (in English if you like) explaining what's going on and make sure they stop taking money from you. Telekom's usual problem is that either the phone or the internet part of Telekom 'forget' to stop taking money from you, so keep an eye on your account.
