German ISPs must block access to porn websites

A mate of mine is with Arcor and as we were supping a beer one evening he informed me that Arcor was preventing access to certain sites like "YouPorn" (whatever that is. )

There are some proposed changes to German law that would require adult sites to either have age verification or block access for users in Germany.

It's not in effect yet though, so not sure why they'd already be blocking it.

YouPorn is gradually being blocked by all German ISPs because of a court ruling that the age-restriction method (i.e. none) is inadequate. Apparently this will solve all problems because it's the only source of pornography on the internet.

There seems a certain irony in Germany blocking these sites when they are one of the more liberal countries, with regards to pornography, in the world.
