Drinks meet up in Kaiserslautern

Just wanted to say we enjoyed ourselves last night. Nice to meet you all and hope to see you again soon.

I managed to get us home in one piece and it didn't take as long as I thought. And I really didn't mind being the designated driver last night and now I have a nice clear head today. Although some of those cocktails you were drinking Ashley looked very interesting!

If our Mr President could look into the pub quizzes when he gets a chance, that would be great! Or we can just pop down again for a drink or maybe persuade you to go for a walkey/hike thing.

Hi all, I think yesterday was a success It was great to meet all y´all. I´ll look around for pub quizzes here and keep everyone posted. I´m always up for a walk or hike thingy btw...

Cool! The idea is to find a nice walky/hike thingy with a nice "Ziel" at the end of it. This means a goal or a target but our landlord always means it as a pub or a restaurant where we can have a drink after our nice walky/hike thingy.

It's a part of German culture I've certainly adopted!

There´s a biergarten here in the woods, called Bremerhof... I´ll check out whether that´s a Ziel on any of the trails out here in the Pfälzer-wald. I think the outdoor part of the biergarten probably will open up when it gets a bit warmer

Another place to be hiking when the weather is better is out near the Weinstraße, or in near the Mosel river in your neck of the woods...

Yep, the vodka tonics and cosmopolitans were pretty good! Just enough of 'em to get the giggles and not have sore head today!

There are lots of walking trails close to me, in fact there are some across the street with a biergarten. It never looks open, but as stated before, it may open when it is warmer.

We like to take our little yorkie for a walk there, in fact, we are going today so I can work off the excess calories from last night's cocktails!!!

Glad everyone enjoyed it. Ashley, there's no calories in cocktails...that's the rule! Dogs are a great excuse for a walk and they love it too. I love to see doggies out enjoying a walk, such happy creatures.

1Tennisplyr, that sounds promising. I tell you what, I'll definitely look into planning a walk somewhere handy for us all, with a ziel. But in the meantime, if pub quizes or drink nights come up, that will work too. Will be pretty busy until exams are over in mid-Feb then I'm so going to relax a bit. Can't wait to have my weekend and evenings back to myself. But the odd evening out is definitely good for me too! So keep in touch!

Looks like I'm about a month late on this one. We're up for meeting for drinks/hikes/whatever anywhere from Kaiserslautern to Heidelberg, Bad Dürkheim to Karlsruhe.

If anyone's interested, Mannheim's got a shared cover thing this Saturday night where 40 bars and clubs are jointly promoting a big night out. Not sure it involves anything super special, per se, but it's a good excuse to take the late train home.
