Deferring rent payments when unemployed

Back in the early days of my stay in Germany, I was once told that when one is unemployed he/she can defer his/her rent for up to 6 months without being kicked out. Can someone please enlighten whether this is true or not.

Not true ...

I wouldn't chance this one, they are possibly right that it may take some time to evict you but you are still legally liable.
