Winter hiking near Stuttgart

Hi everybody ,
On the last T.T.meet up i found that there were few who are into hiking and stuffs.. so here is the official thread to break the talk and get into action
Is there anybody here in Stuttgart who would like to join for a winter hike to any of those places in Schwarzwald? I did some hiking this Summer but have always wondered how it would be to hike in Winter. So, if interested or if you happen to know any good winter-hiking ways near Stuttgart or in South Germany it would be great. Till now, my dig on the web fetched these pages,

Are you thinking hiking or cross-country skiing?

I've done both winter and summer hiking. Winter hiking is fun as long as the weather isn't too cold. It can be incredibly pretty wandering around in the snow.

Yeah, I agree it shouldnt be sub zero temp while hiking, but good enough to walk on snow.. Do u happen to know any nice winter hiking paths around Stuttgart or south europe(Swiss/Austria/Germany)?

Hi! I am in Cologne, but would love to join for hiking if its over a weekend. I dont know skiing yet...moved to Cologne from India only last week...

definitely interested in some winter hiking...i thought about going to the tourism place downtown to try and find some places to hike

I'm interested in this too, so keep me posted.. would like to try the cross-country ski also but I need some more lessons first : ) We did a trip down to the Feldberg ( near Freiberg iB ) in 2006, that was fun. You can hire ski gear there, have lessons etc.. but some hiking would be good for now! Black forest is the place to head if you want to find some snow close to Stuttgart. You can also get trains down to Austria which only take a few hours.

Thats a nice idea.. I am slowly getting some info.. i will post it once i get the concrete plan.

am gonna pick up few books tonight.. so just to keep people in check!! this idea is still progressing

krish: I have a book on hiking in Stuttgart as well as a map of the area, which I can bring on Thursday if you want. I haven't checked it out the winter options yet.

thx ascea.. that would be great.. i fetched a coupla books from the library yesterday and a few links. But they are not about hiking in Schwarzwald but in Oberbayern / allgau.. i will bring them tomorrow aswell.. cheers

I found this awesome list of 12 hiking trails in Blackforest and i did one trail already.. it was definitely worthwhile. How about speak over it on Thursdays? Can i get a hell yeah? till then
