Having your company pay for your parking spot

A reasonable argument for negotiating a pay rise?

It's getting near the end of the year which means that salary negotiations for the next year will take place. I am trying to find the best arguments for salary increases, and increases in net payments could be just as effective than only increases in gross payments which will be taxed on anyway.

I was suggested a very smart idea of bringing up that the company could pay for my parking spot at home. If I hadn't had a company car, I would never have bought a car in Munich, so I wouldn't have to pay for a parking spot in my building. Therefore I could suggest that my company pays for my parking spot as well. Has anyone suggested such a thing before and how did they respond to the idea?

i think you should be happy that you have a company car. I'd see that request as cheeky. Better off stating you want more money, imo.

Can you not put the cost of the parking space on your tax declaration and get the money back that way?

The company can argue that you are allowed to use the car privately so you can be expected to bear some of the costs. Or did the company stipulate that you have to park the car in a garage at all times? If so, you have a strong point there. If not, the paid parking spot was your choice, you cough up for it.

I would not be too sure of that - could come under "Geldwertevorteil" and thus be liable tax.

I very very much doubt that that will wash with the Finanzamt.
