That is great news. I always shop at TJ when I am home. Now they just have to come down south!
MoiLV
I predict a Walmart effect.
Tom17
Umm, I thought it was called TK Maxx anyway, not TJ Maxx (which I have never heard of).
lazybum
Does this mean that Hamburg will fill up with chavs in Burburry caps?
Mrs Peel
Is that the same as TK Maxx?? Seems to have the same strapline...

Edit - Ah sorry, Tom17 - see you've said that already!
PES
I doubt it will be like what we have in the States: TJs in the States buys overstock from suppliers and sell them cheaply. They have a great kitchen section wit top brands (kitchen aid and the kind) at really low prices.
Mrs Peel
Sounds exactly the same. Hate the shop myself because you always have to root through tons of stuff to find anything... I prefer Primark for cheap as chips shopping!
PES
Primark?
Expat Mat
the Hamburg one is in Billstedt. I don't think it could any further away from where I live and still be in Hamburg. Oh well.
Wizadora
I've been to both TJ Maxx (US) and TK Maxx (UK) and they seemed exactly the same to me, in the UK you get all the cheap kitchen goods etc..so I doubt it'll be any different in Germany
Katrina
May they never come to Munich because I'd go bankrupt buying marked-down Le Creuset.
Jarek
cooooooll...spank me and call me Wanda!!! I hope prices are also close to US prices...
Wizadora
It's always the shoes that are the best buys...would be nice if they came to Munich, if it were Topshop or Primark opening in Germany then I would have been there nomatter the journey time!
PES
Has anyone here been to one or their shops here in Germany?

Not exactly right - it's pretty much round the corner from where we live - not the one in Billstedt, but the one in Schenefeld.

So for people in Lurup, Eimsbüttel, Stellingen, Schnelsen, Niendorf etc. Schenefeld is a shorter way than Billstedt.

I'm sorry but i have to piss on everyone's parade here.

Designer labels? Fruit of The Loom is a designer label? blink.gif

It's a stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap kind of place for God's sake!

Anyone on here that thinks this is designer stuff needs to get rid of their shellsuit ffs! laugh.gif

A sane voice at last – thank you! If you want decent, cheap clothing go to C&A.
crusoe
Not so, Dave - at the Southport branch (oh, the dazzling lights of the big city) I found Dolce & Gabbana, Jasper Conran, Calvin Klein etc.
No Le Creuset though, but that says more about the good burghers of Southport than it does about TKs.

This was a joke I hope? C & A?! Anyway, I don't buy clothes over here... do all my shopping HERE when I go home. My mom shops at TJ Maxx all the time but I don't remember ever buying anything there.

and Stone Island, CP Company etc

I know a few people who get there on delivery day, buy then sell on Ebay and make quite a bit of money in the process.
PayolaDL
Yeah, ok so not everything is "designer" but you can find a lot of nice stuff. Better quality than C&A or H&M too. Pants and jackets for work, lamps and accessories for home, luggage, sheets, shoes, etc. You just need some patience to look through stuff. I converted my husband, and he's the Anti-Shopper.
VenusInFurs
This is excellent news. I'll have to make a trip to Hamburg to go shopping sometime!

I hope they open one in Berlin!

Hi, I have been to the TK Maxx here the one in Schenefeld. It's very similar the the TK in the UK and the Winners in Canada, although the selection is smaller. The home wares stuff is pretty good. However, I would have to say that TK Maxx over here really don't carry known designer brands like they do in North America. Occasionally I will find a Ralph Lauren purse, but the clothes seem to be more large batches of some brand that is not a known label.

It's only been open a few weeks, so perhaps in time it will improve if people shop there, but they have chosen two malls that are kind of far from the center of town.
Small Town Boy
A brand not known to you as a Canadian or simply an unknown brand?
Steph0313
I have lived around the world and I know fashion...so no, they are not known brand labels.
Shell Andrews
I say thet bring a River Island type store here and ill be there in a flash, waiting for the doors to open...
