My wallet was stolen first time I went, but wanted to check Lost and Found since I happen to be going tonight (on the off chance I either dropped it or the perp had *some* class and turned my DL back in).
Thanks all

Oetztaler str is the main and regular Lost and Found Office. For the Ofest one, I believe you should head towards the statue of Bavaria and look for signs near her. Clearer directions are difficult without a map.

It's in the same building as the Polizei near Schottenhammel so just follow those signs. Little cherubs direct you to the building. Very odd.

I've been there 4 times so am quite familiar with it. It's behind the Schottenhammel tent. There's a building with three entrances each with a police officer standing there. The door first door your right as you face the building (the end closer to HB tent) leads to the fundamt. You then go door stairs and it's right there. Take €5, if your stuff is there you have to pay to get it back.

why do you have to pay to get it back ?

Because the guy behind the desk says so!
Or on a more helpful note, presumably it's the cover the cost of the location & staff required to look after your stuff. Sounds fair enough.

Thanks all... I'd better do this first thing when I get there rather than stumble drunk in there asking to look for my wallet
And if they by miracle have my wallet I'd be happy to give them a fiver!

Friend of mine lost his wallet at the O'fest complete with money, credit cards, ID, passport, the lot some years ago. He didn't even realise until he woke up the next day (who would?).
Down at the O'fest lost and found they took him to a small room full of drawers. Finding the colour of the lost wallet was black they moved 3 columns down, that it was leather, 5 rows up, and open the drawer. In this drawer (he said) were over 50 black leather wallets, of which his was one - complete with not single item missing.
The honesty of these people sometimes amazes me...

Well amazingly, success... on the last day I dropped in (and almost didn't because I assumed this was a long shot/waste of time) and they asked "any documents"? told them my DL looked up my name and got some of my stuff back (no wallet or cash, but the only thing I cared about was the DL).
They were even kind enough to waive the 5 Euro charge.
Now given I'm about 99% sure I was lifted as opposed to dropping it I am blown away that it may have been the perps that returned the docs they couldn't use. However, I've always thought there was a good chance that if my house was robbed, and the ones doing it noticed my curtains broke some rule they'd swing by the hausmeister to let her know about it.
Anyway, another TT'er saved from the Weis'n... now if we could just find Kat's jacket (and I know there are others as well).

I doubt that if your wallet was lifted it was the people who stole it who turned it in. They probably dropped it as soon as they had what they wanted and some other kind soul turned it in.

OK, my friend lost her handy on Friday night - wasn't sure if she lost it at Okotberfest or in the cab on the way to P1 or in P1. Yesterday, we went to the Lost and Found(Oktoberfest), stood in a line for 30 minutes and they didn't have it. Checked at P1 yesterday, they didn't have it.
So, what are the chances that will be able to find it at the big City Lost and Found?

What about calling the taxi company and seeing if they have it?

Well, when my friend said she lost it - she did ask 'How many different cab companies are there in Munich?' She has no idea which company(like I said, she went from
Oktoberfest to P1 so it's not like she was totally sober on her way over there). But, on a funny note, she had no problem cruising right into P1.

There are a lot of different taxi companies but one Taxi Centrale who are an overseeing & coordinating body for the whole. I think the number is 21610. Ring them and ask.
