Hammonia
just a quick hello from the Highlands to you guys. Are enjoying our time here very much, the cottage is phantastic and a good base for daytrips. Having a quiet day today tho.

Shell Andrews
works for me too. What sort of time? Any suggestions where?
Figgy
Where is always is a problem. We haven't found the perfect place yet.
Cafe May is good but not so easy to get to by transit. I suggested before Frieda am Park, but you have to take a bus from the nearest Sbahn.
I can host at my house in Blankenese if people are willing to come that far - but once again it is not so easy to get to by transit.
Anyone else have suggestions? We need a decent size table and good lighting.

How about around 7pm where ever we end up.
Shell Andrews
7pm works for me, cafe may is fine for me as I know where it is and how to get there, however I really dont mind where it is.
Figgy
If we do Cafe May I would be driving. Steph if you want you could get a ride with me. I might like to go a bit earlier in order to get a parking spot though.
Wed night is the night before a holiday, so we wouldn't have to worry about staying out a bit later.
Shell Andrews
sounds good to me... so see you next wednesday at about 7pm (dont think I can get there any earlier, as I have to wait for Joe to get home from work first). Looking forward to it. I have game of life electronic edition and trivial pursuit family edition f you want me to bring them along?
Figgy
Well to be honest, I've never liked "Life" and not a big fan of Trivia any more either. I prefer euro games.
Figgy
Well I just read my last post and that didn't come across very nice did it?! I must have been in a bad mood when I wrote that, it sounds rather mean. My sincere apologies. In fact, I don't mind playing trivial pursuit.
Unfortunately, something has just come up and I won't be able to make it after all on Wednesday. Sorry for the late cancellation.

Maybe next week?
Shell Andrews
it didnt come across as being mean-everyone has different ways of saying things- thats fine about wednesday, I wasnt sure if I could make it or not either to be honest. next week sounds fine... euro games it is then, I dont mind what we play to be honest, might have to be explained the rules of the games though coz I havent played many of them. Nice to learn something new though!
See you next week.
CiaranKelly
I would like to join you with my girlfriend.
I suppose I just keep on checking to see if you agree on a new date unless anyone is still up for some games tomorrow?!
Figgy
The group always welcomes newcomers!

If we want to start planning for next week, Wednesday or Thursday looks good for me. Definitely not Monday though.
marymanu
For next week I could do either Wed or Thursday evening. What does everyone else think?

@Figgy - I'd love to play St Petersburg again. We've recently purchased it but have been too intimidated to play it by ourselves!
Hammonia
We'll be back on Sunday, havent got any plans for next week afai remember, so think I'm in. Don't know about Mat though. Are we mixing with the subordinates again? wink.gif
Figgy
@marymanu I would be glad to play St. Pete's with you again. It is one of my favourites!
Shell Andrews
Wednesday or Thursday works for me too.. I will have a look online before hand see if i can pick up some tips on how to play St Pete's, be nice to play something new. See you all next week. Bye for now
marymanu
The "subordinates" are always welcome. =0) Have we decided on Wednesday or Thursday? What about a time and place?
Figgy
Somebody needs to make an executive decision on the day at least, so I can plan the rest of my week around it. smile.gif
Shell Andrews
Wednesday? 7pm? Cafe May?
Figgy
I can do Wednesday.

I have received an e-mail from a gentleman wishing to join our game meet up. Does anyone have an objection to a guy joining us this week?
marymanu
No problem here. How many are planning on coming? So far I see:

Me
Figgy
Hammonia
Shell

Hoping we can play St. Petersburg! If we have too many, maybe a round of Siedler? I have the 6 player expansion pack now.
marymanu
My friend Megan is also planning on being there.
Steph0313
I'll be there.
Hammonia
I'm in smile.gif
marymanu
Okay, so that's:

Me
Figgy
Hammonia
Shell
Steph
Megan

@Figgy - Any more words from the gentleman interested in coming?
marymanu
Okay, I've made a reservation for tomorrow at 7 pm for 8 people (just in case) under the name Toytown.

See you then!
CiaranKelly
I would have loved to come but I take German classes on Wednesday evenings so I have to give this a miss.
Maybe next time.
Poppins
Is it too late for me to join as well? I think my bf is working so I would only be 1 additional person. If it is ok, where is Cafe May? I work until 6:30pm but unless Cafe May is outside of Hamburg it wouldn't be a problem for me to be on time:)
Figgy
@poppins Yes, please do join us. Lappensbergallee 30 Eimsbüttel.

@Figgy - Any more words from the gentleman interested in coming?

I told him he could join us if he didn't mind hanging out with a bunch of girls.

If everyone shows up we may have to split into two groups for gaming. So if anyone has a favourite game they want to bring just in case...
Shell Andrews
I'm in. see you all tomorrow.
Poppins
OK I will be coming straight from work at 6:30 but since I noticed that this address is right by our place it actually works out really well. I'll be coming with my bike though, so I won't be bringing any of our larger games but those are mainly war tactic games that I doubt we would want to play anyways. See you ladies all tonight:)
Hammonia
Laurel, do you think it would be possible to ask for a table outside?
The weather is so nice, it'd be a shame to sit inside...?!
marymanu
@Betty - Are you planning on bringing any games? I was hoping to go by bike but if you'd like I can bring Settlers, Zug um Zug and St. Pete.

@Hammonia,
I called and we'll have a table outside for 8.
Figgy
I was planning on bringing a few games. I had picked out a few that would be good for outdoors or card games for 6-8 people. I hadn't planned on bringing the others as I thought you or someone else would be bringing them, but if you can't carry those on your bike I can bring mine. Which would you like me to bring?
Hammonia
Thanks Laurel.

I can bring Zug um Zug and Hase und Igel.
Not so sure about both of them though, they only work if its not windy...
marymanu
Okay, I will bring Settlers for 6 and St Petersburg.
Poppins
Just want to say that I had a great time meeting all you ladies! I also really enjoyed the games you brought Figgy. I'm looking forward to the next meet up:)
Steph0313
I second that Poppins! I had a lovely time too and it was nice to meet some new friends.

Look forward to the next one. Anyone available next Wednesday?
Figgy
Dear Gamers,
As much as it pains me to do so, I must sell some of my games. sad.gif We are moving back to Canada in a few months and I have just too many to pack up and take with me! (I have over 400 games). I've made a list of games I'm selling with prices as an excel file. If anybody is interested, send me a message with your personal e-mail and I can send you the list. The list is a mixture of many types of games, from simple party games to heavy strategy, cooperative, abstract, and stuff inbetween. Some have too much german text for my english-speaking family back in Canada, others I have duplicates of, and others I just don't expect will get played very often by my family and friends in Canada.

I'll sell them on a first-come first-served basis. They are all going in a flea market at the kid's school next Wednesday so if you really want something let me know before then.

I had fun meeting you all last night too. I could do next Wednesday, but I think I would prefer Thursday.
Hammonia
Sad to hear that you're leaving Hamburg, Figgy sad.gif

But I hope YOU are happy about the move.

I'd be interested in some games - will PM.

Will check our calendar about next week.
Poppins
I can do next Wednesday or Thursday...
Hammonia
Can't make Wednesday, but Thursday would be good.

Megan said yesterday she could also do Thursday.

Steph, would Thursday also be Ok for you?
Shell?
Laurel?
Figgy
Would anyone be interested in meeting at a different place this week? I have a couple suggestions...they have outdoor tables too (the forecast is for a warm sunny day).
Country Kitchen Hemmingstedter Weg 2 or Zum Falkenstein Kösterbergstr. 105. They're restaurants so we'd be expected to eat something. We could include the men? You have to take a bus from the nearest S-bahn for each of them.
marymanu
What neighborhood are these in? (What is the nearest S Bahn?) I can do Thursday.
Hammonia
I wouldnt mind going elsewhere, but I'd go by car, how is it with parking there?
Figgy

Zum Falkenstein is in Blankenese, closest S-Bahn is Blankenese. You would get the bus 286 from there.
Country Kitchen is in Klein Flottbek , it's in between S-Bahn Klein Flottbek and Othmarschen. I think the bus is 21 or 37.

They both have parking. Country Kitchen has a large parking lot in front, at Zum Falkenstein you can park on the road.
Shell Andrews
thursday is great for me, count me in. ill keep checking on here just in case the location changes. see you all thursday
Steph0313
Thursday works fine for me too. Looking forward to it...although I just checked weather forecast and Thursday is the one day we may get rain. Still early in the week yet, so anything can change.
Figgy
Looks like 6 so far for Thursday! smile.gif

Any ideas what we should play? Requests?
half-japanese
The Country Kitchen looks nice. I'm interested in coming, too. What time is everyone meeting?
Steph0313
The Country Kitchen sounds like a nice place to try. 7pm is our usual meet up time Half-Japanese.

Figgy, will reservations need to be made?
