We could do one of those evenings. I'll update as soon as we decide.
Hammonia
Rather Saturday if possible, still feeling rotten due to the flu, but am back in work.
Steph0313
Saturday works for me (us) if men are included.
Figgy
OK, let's make it Saturday. Men included.
Hammonia
Mat's in Munich for the weekend, so it'll only be me biggrin.gif
adrianw
Hi! I've been off of Toytown for awhile. I heard there might be a couples game night this Thursday. John and I would like to join. Has it moved to Saturday? We're available, so please just let us know the final time and place. Thanks!
Figgy
Hi Adrian, welcome back! We are planning the gaming night for Saturday. It would be great if you could join us. Venue TBA.
adrianw
Okay great. Looking forward to more info. John and I are planning on it!
Steph0313
Figgy and I talked and since there are few more people interested this weekend, we will have it at our place, since we have the bigger table.

See you all at 7:15 pm Saturday evening.
marymanu
@Figgy - Will you please bring BANG and some other games like it?
Figgy
yes
Hammonia
I'm so so sorry guys, but I'll probably not be able to make it to the games night.
Am still fighting the flu, am half deaf and sound like a rusty bucket (ask Laurel and Matt, I "talked" on the phone with them on Wednesday).
My colleague's on holiday so I had to go to work all week, only did a few emergency hours every day and then went home, but I gotta be fit next week so it's probably wiser to stay at home and be quiet.
Arrgghhhhhh, I'm bored! Mat's down South for the weekend...

Have lots of fun, I'll try and make it next time.
Figgy
Sorry to hear that Hammonia. That nasty flu went through our house this year and it is a bad one! Hope you are feeling better again soon.
Steph0313
Sorry that you aren't feeling well Hammonia. Hope you feel better quickly and that we see you at the next game.
Figgy
We had a great time playing Settlers, Londinium, and Apples to Apples last night. Thankyou S & G for hosting!

So who's up for this coming week? I will offer to host. How is Thursday for everyone?

*Remember, the clocks "spring ahead" this weekend.*
Steph0313
Last night was a great evening. Nice to see some new faces. biggrin.gif Thank you all for bringing something.

Thursday night will probably work for us...husband just needs to check something, but I will confirm in the next day.

Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful sunshine today.

C U All soon.
Figgy
FYI - Frank will not be able to join us at the next gaming meet-up. sad.gif However, I am still happy have the men join us again at the next meeting. Whatever you all prefer is fine with me. smile.gif
The two tables with concurrent games work well last night so we could do that again if we have a large crowd.
Hammonia
Boo, I'm a little upset that I couldn't be there yesterday sad.gif

Provided my cold is better (seemed to be yesterday, but got worse again), we could host next Thursday.
If it's a big crowd one group would have to sit in the sofa corner with the low coffee table, otherwise we have one big table for up to 8 people.

But I gotta see how I feel mid week, have a lot of work now as well. We could also think about the weekend again...?
marymanu
Matt and I would prefer the weekend as well but would try to make it on Thursday. We had a great time last night. It was nice to split up into groups and play two different games. Looking forward to playing Londinium again.
Figgy
It seems that Thursday is not a good night this week for gaming.

Hammonia, do you still want to host on Saturday? I can't host that night.
I most likely cannot attend on Saturday night either, but maybe it would be a good night for everyone else.

Frank and I would still like to host on another night, perhaps Saturday April 19th.
Hammonia
I'm still ill at home, but am going back to work on Friday.
So hosting on Saturday is fine for us.

Who's in?

edit: we're on holiday from April 18th for two weeks.
Steph0313
This weekend won't work for us. Sorry about that. Hope you are starting to feel better. Sounds like a very nasty cold you have.

Figgy and I talked about getting together Friday afternoon for a game. Is anyone else interested?
Hammonia
Sorry, I can't make Friday afternoon.

Is anybody in for Saturday?
Figgy
I definitely can't make it Saturday night. Maybe next week though.
marymanu
@Hammonia,
Matt and I are up for Saturday night. If it's just the 4 of us, I can bring die Siedler von Catan! Yay! Let me know,
Laurel
Hammonia
@Laurel
We have an invitation for dinner and games for tonight already, if you don't mind, we'd like to skip tomorrow and move it to next Saturday..?! We can host.
Maybe instead of games tomorrow we go to the Rover on Sunday for dinner and live celtic music? We've been talking about that for so long now...

Next weekend is the last possibility for a while for us, on April 18 we are going on holiday for 2 1/2 weeks.
Wahaaaay, ceilidh in Scotland smile.gif
marymanu
@Hammonia - Unfortunately we've got plans both next Saturday and this Sunday night, but we might be able to convince the people we're going out with on Sunday to go to the Rover. I'll let you know.
Hammonia
Ok, just let us know. Today's dinner and games have on short notice been postponed to tomorrow, but we're free on Sunday.

Abt. next week: what about Friday? Figgy? Steph? It's pretty much last possibility before we go on holiday...
Figgy
Unfortunately, next Friday and Saturday are not possible for me. The whole week looks bad as far as gaming opportunities in the evenings. Frank is away and my calender is full of commitments with kids, school, appointments, etc. I'd really rather be playing games, but life goes on smile.gif . Wednesday is the only evening that might be a possibility for me.

The following week/weekend looks promising though.
Figgy
Hamburg's first Boardgames Messe! Hamburg Spieltage

It seems that a Spielmesse (games fair in English?) is being organized for May 16-18. I've been to some of these and they are fun!

Usually there are many booths from various game publishers displaying their games, lots of tables and copies to try out the games, with staff to explain the games for you. Often there is a used-game flohmarkt (where I have in the past acquired some good games at great prices). Food and drink are always available. This one seems to be still in the planning stages so I can't say for sure what it will actually offer, but I would expect to see hundreds of games and lots of people having fun.

What I got from the website so far (it's all in German, of course):

It's for anybody including children. The entrance price ranges from 1€ for a child to 10€ for a family for the weekend. It is open Friday 2-10, Saturday 10-8 with an additional all-nighter planned till 4am, and Sunday 10-3.
I think the location is Saselbergweg 63, 22395. Is that Poppenbüttel? It's a bit out of the city but reachable by transit (s-bahn/bus).

I plan on going for sure. If anyone else is interested, maybe we could see each other there on the Saturday and try out some games together?
marymanu
I am interested! Matt may be out of town then but I will come with you for sure.
Hammonia
ManU is going to kick Roma out of the Champions League, so Wednesday is not possible for me.

Is anyone interested in Friday? Steph? Laurel? I'd love to play once again before we go on holiday, especially as yesterday's dinner and games turned out to be only games as nobody understood the rules of "bunco" and the dinner was finished much too late anyway... rolleyes.gif Shame that, we had a nice crowd of 12 people...

@Laurel: you have any news about Rover tonight?

edit: I'd be interested, we're back by then. But the link isn't working, could you please check that again Betty? I didn't find it via google (didn't have much time tho).
Figgy
Odd, sometimes the link works for me and sometimes it doesn't. dry.gif

You're choosing football over boardgames?? huh.gif

That is football, right? smile.gif

This thing won't let me use anymore emoticons! What's up with that!
marymanu
Matt and I are available on Wednesday and Friday, so either night is fine with us. Who else can come on one of those two days?
Steph0313
I am available if it's Friday in the afternoon...the evening isn't good for us this week.

Yupp, it is football. And I do choose it over boardgames. It's Champion's League quarter final, ffs wink.gif

Oh, and you're allowed three emoticons in one posting on this board.

Let us know if you wanna play on Friday, otherwise we just stick with Rover on Sun. Ta.

Ladies, I generally can't make afternoons, as I'm working. Thur before easter lunch was a one-off thing as I had a day off and was not on holiday.
Normally I spend my holidays elsewhere. smile.gif
Hammonia
So - anybody in for Friday?

Our neighbours Britta and Karsten might wanna join us.
marymanu
@ Karin - Matt and I are in for Friday. I also invited Meg and Joerg since they live just two stops from you. Waiting to hear back from them. We aren't sure about Sunday tho because Matt might have to work this weekend. =0(
Hammonia
OK, for Friday please let me know if your friends are in.

Sun: we can postpone it til we come back from Scotland if you like smile.gif no prob. I've got plenty of laundry to do before we leave anyway. rolleyes.gif
marymanu
@Hammonia,
It doesn't seem like they will be coming. I've got a new game - St Petersburg - and I can also bring Siedler and Munchkin! We will have lots of fun even if it's just the 4 of us.

By the way, I'm not sure if Britta is the same neighbor who came to the last book swap, but she has a book of mine that I would eventually like back called HIGH FIDELITY.
Hammonia
Yes, Britta was at the bookswap. Don't know if she's finished with the book tho.
She will check on the kids from time to time anyway, so you can ask her.

So we will be 6, can we play your games with 6 players?
Ticket to ride is for max. 5, Mah Jongg for 4...
I've got Hase und Igel, that would be for 6.
Otherwise: do you have something like taboo or so?
Just bring what you've got.

See you tomo, shall we say at 8 p.m.?
marymanu
Most of the games I was going to play are for up to 4 players, but Munchkin is for 6. We could also split up into two groups of , depending on who wants to play what...

8 pm sounds good. Can we bring anything?
Hammonia
Some snacks if you like smile.gif

La'ers! tongue.gif
Figgy
Anybody want to game this week?
Hammonia
I'd love to, but can't squeeze it in this week, so see you in 3-4 weeks!

Take care guys! smile.gif
Shell Andrews
Anyone fancy a board-game evening soon, its been a long time for me. maybe an evening next week?
Figgy
I would be interested. I could do either an evening or during the day.
Figgy
Wednesday evening, anyone?
Steph0313
That works for me. smile.gif
