Hey All,

OK i am sure you have to read loadsa these before but if you could help that would be sweet! I am currently living in Prague, i have been for a long time now and always worked in Finance and Accounting (Fixed Assets and General Ledger Work). I am 24 and from England. Currently I am in Asia working for a school, teaching 1500 kids for Grade 1 English (16 year olds)

I am looking to go to Germany when my term finishes in June. I would like to work in teaching, maybe kids oral English or maybe business english in work places. Also i was looking ot find out if there are any summer camps/courses i could apply to teach at as something to get started with in the summer?

I would like somewhere about the Frankfurt area, but this is not important in the big picture as such.

I assume working is not a problem as i am British and hold a valid passport blah blah blah.

Any good places to apply to at all? And i deas on how to get started.

I am also going to germany for a month in January so would like to get some things sorted in the mean time to get some kinda ball rolling!

Thakns for your help guys and gals smile.gif

Do you like teaching that much? Why not looking for a job with a company like KPMG ?
I think that there are a couple of threads about teaching english on this forum... I´m sure you could find some info there.

Was trying to get out of that for a while - I was working for Accenture in Prague - One of the othe large firms! I am doing teaching as some thing for a change, a bit more refreshing smile.gif

It makes no sense to me for someone in their 20s to interrupt a promising consulting career to teach English (although word has it that it is better remunerated in East Asia than in Europe).
If you want to come to Germany, get work at a consulting firm, or in a company's treasury department. Most people who teach English here have irregular work hours and make very little money. Can't see much rewarding about that, but I suppose if you really want to, you could teach English on the side to supplement a more financially rewarding job. Of course, if you already have a lot of money, you can pretty much do what you want.

No i dont have a lot of money. Yes I had a promising job with Accenture, though in accountantcy rather than consulting and i am good at it but it bores me. So hence i came to Asia to teach Eng for a little break. So would also be interested in doing the same in Germany but maybe business Eng at firms!

Just a guess, but I suspect that having a top TEFL certification like CELTA or Trinity would help your resume for teaching business English, which is already strengthened by your real-world business experience. It's almost certainly not be possible to get your own clients right away in Germany without local contacts, but I would suggest that being your end-goal. Seems to me that the Visegrad countries and East Asia would be more promising markets for teaching business English. Make sure you get written references from your current and previous clients.

Good luck...

2 many people doing the english thing here. You would really be better off doing something else. Prostitution is legal here, why don't you look into that.
The Ostrich Watch
True i could look into other areas although i doubt i shall be good for the prostitution side - My misses is German though, maybe she knows what features i need for that - Other than a big.eh.ego?

I might be a bit fucked for language in other areas though. I speak English and Czech, my German is more amuzing than useul smile.gif
