Flights from New York to Munich

Suggested airlines, routes, travel agencies, etc.

Hi...seems like I will be visiting Munich often to visit my hunny. I've done the direct flight NYC-MUC on Lufthansa. Great but pricey.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to other carriers? travel agencies? internet sites? Let me know.

I was just there a week ago and tried to changed my return flight on Lufthansa and because I was in a class that was tiers below
business, I had to wait till December to get a seat in my "class" and that would be with the 200 dollar change fee plus fare difference.
Total baloney!

I came back to NYC on LTU. I had to transfer at Düsseldorf.

Any tips, ideas, experiences, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Happy Halloween!

use the search feature, like type in "airlines". you'll find it to be pretty good on TT (as opposed to other forums out there in the grand ole world).

Gee...not only did Toytown whomever move me into this topic forum but no one really replied. dry.gif Was hoping someone who jaunts back and forth from Muc-NYC would respond. Oh wells.

Thanks Elfenstar. I'll try that.

don't take it personally. today was a holiday in germany. and most people, on their day off, do something outdoors or stay away from forums (like me). i was on the computer all day, but doing fun stuff. no time for TT! ph34r.gif

More to the point, this topic has been covered ad nauseum. Contrary to popular belief, there is no "magic website" where all prices are half what everyone else is paying. Use Google to hunt around, but you'll have to calculate the amount of time you spend searching versus the amount of money you might save. Generally speaking, being flexible with your dates will save you more money than hunting around hundreds of different websites.

Ad nauseum? But I'm a newbie. Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, i understand I have to pay an unmagical price, but i wanted to know from people in munich who frequent NYC what kinda things they do.
I don't mind paying up to 1000 I guess, but 1300 for economy on Lufthansa is bonkers. Catch my drift? What I was looking for, is something along
the lines of flying through montreal, or perhaps boston is cheaper...etc. Tips, ideas.

Anyways, guess they aren't many New Yorkers in Munich. Boo Hoo!

Direct is best. JFK-MUC with Lufthansa

It doesn't matter whether you're a newbie or not. My point was that every few hours a new thread is started along the lines of "where can I get a cheap flight from A to B?" After a few years on the forum, the patience levels wear thin. You wanted to know why no-one had responded to your thread, and I'm telling you the reason.

Welcome to Toytown, nonetheless. As a welcoming gesture, I'll even link to the pre-existing thread where "B" was New York and "A" was Munich. Here you go.

kayak.com sez "€425 for NYC->MUC for the 16th of Nov through 23rd on KLM" Stopover in Amsterdam

Thanks all...think I'll stick with my expensive direct route. Whatevers.
My college years are over and I'm not into long layovers and being hassled for a "deal."

Thanks for the bittersweet welcome SmallTownBoy. Duly noted. wink.gif

It's a pleasure; it's what I do best!

Try looking for flights to Frankfurt, it's sometimes cheaper than Munich & you can get a Domestic flight with Lufty for around 99eu or jump on the ICE.

Air India (I kid you not) to London, then LON-MUC with whoever's cheapest. You get a great curry on board too.

I believe Emirates fly between New York & Hamburg... There had been some adverts in local press for cheap offers but whether they are applicable or available is another thing.
Germany Bound
Which cities are cheaper to fly to from NYC? Just curious... I am in a similar predicament.
