I'm currently with mobilcom piggybacking off the T-Mobile network. Tariff is reasonable except for international SMS. My 3 month window is approaching where I will have the opportunity to cancel or be stuck with them for another 12 months. Anyone know of tariffs that have good rates for international SMS? It currently costs me 25c per SMS and this adds up very quick when you are having a bit of banter with some mates.

Simyo and Fonic offers SMS to networks outside Germany at 20ct/SMS. If you want cheaper offers, you may have to use online SMS options like
SMSDiscount.

SMSDiscount looks interesting, is there anyway to install it on a phone? From their website it looks like it's just a PC app.

Using SMS discount, you can send SMS only from your PC. Just checked the
rates of voipcheap, looks less compared to SMSdiscount. Sent a trial SMS using voipcheap and delivery was immediete.
EDIT - Found
this Java based application after a bit googling. Install the Java App on your mobile and send SMS using that. GPRS/Data charges apply for sending each SMS.

Voipcheap looks good but this lot seem to offer the chance of return messages.

Anybody got any experience here?
I'm tempted to just give voipcheap a shot though as they also say they do cheaper mobile phone calls which could be useful.

VoipCheap now offers sending SMS for free. You can even send group SMS'es and it doesn't cost anything.

Sigh... NOT FREE! You have to deposit €10 to start with and only get the free service for 120 days unless you top up the deposit, otherwise future SMSs cost 6cents (to Germany). Cheap - yes, free - no.

Hi all,
I am looking for a cell phone offer which will let me send cheap international SMS. Currently I am sending at 29ct/sms, which is a lot. I am ready to take up a contract if necessary, or prepaid whatever it takes. All the bulk sms packages I have seen so far seems to be only for sending SMS's inside Germany. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
I also have seen the O2 contract, where if you order your contract from online, they give you a choice of either 15% discount or 150 SMS for free. One of my friends told me I can send international sms using these free SMS's. Can anyone confirm?
Please understand that I am not looking for cheap SMS from PC, but only from my cell phone.
Thanks in advance.

My O2 free sms allows international sms for free, as long as it's within the stipulated 120 free sms per month. No carry over.

If you have an iphone or blackberry, you can download Skype and send SMSs with that for US 5¢ - 25¢, depending on where you're sending it.

Almost all Providers also run Email to SMS gateways. Sending Email is free (Well most of the time)..
The format is usually: telephonenumber@carrier.domain
