The plans start at 49 euro/month and include unlimited data plans, Visual Voicemail and access to T-Mobile's over 8,000 W-Fi Hotspots in Germany.

QUOTE
We're thrilled to be partnering with T-Mobile and can't wait to start selling the iPhone in Germany in just a few short weeks," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Starting at just €49 per month, we think these three rate plans give customers the flexibility to experience all of iPhone’s revolutionary features at affordable and competitive prices.

"Unlimited" doesn't mean unlimited. The max data xfer package you can get is 5GB per month. Any more and they charge some ungodly amount per MB after that.

I see they include "minutes".. I wonder if this will be minutes to any network, or just T-Mobile like almost every other plan out there..

Unlimited data makes it a tempting plan - it's just a pity that because of the limitations of the iPhone it will be slow as hell..

EDIT: Seems to be all networks - here is the official link. They also cut your speed to 64kbit/s when you pass 200meg on the S plan, 1gb on the M, and 5gb on the L. That's pretty crap, not that you'd reach it anyway at the pathetic speed of EDGE.

EDGE networks are not that widespred in Germany as in US. European operators invested on UMTS. It would be interesting to see the EDGE coverage map of T-Mobile.
Darkknight
T-Mobile EDGE network is a bit bigger then UMTS. However UMTS is the future and TCOM are heavily investing in it.
Yet another reason to wait for the new EU iPhone version, or to forget the iPhone completly for something more useable and cheaper.

Yeh, I'm thinking the same thing.. my contract runs out at the end of November, so it's time for a new phone, but there isn't anything on the market right now that I think is really good. I think I'll just go prepaid for a while.

Correction from my part. From the reports, T-Mobile has 90% EDGE coverage in Germany and promising 100% by end of 2007.
