Does anyone have the dates for Münchner
Frühlingsfest 2008? The website still has last years dates.
http://www.muenchner-volksfeste.de/FF.htmThanks!

Is Fruhlingsfest like Oktoberfest, do you need to make reservations? My sister will be in town for the weekend and wants to go, and I have never been...Any advice would be appreciated!

Well you don't need to make reservations for the Oktoberfest and you definitely don't at the
Frühlingsfest. Just go there, find a table and sit down and drink. It's a lot smaller than the Oktoberfest, but of course it's only locals so it's nowhere near as busy.
There's a good chance the
Friday Beer Garden lot will visit,
we did last year.

thanks! So, even if it turns out that we are a large party - like say 10 people, still don't need reservations?

Just don't go too late, with the Friday beergarden group we got there about 6pm I think and the place was pretty empty. If you turn up at 9pm you may struggle.

Last year the Friday Beer Garden mob went there, so there's a good chance we'll be going again I would imagine.
A Friday is good! I'm not sure if we can reserve. So if we want to get a bunch of tables we'd have to be there fairly early though. Say, 5.30pm?
They stop serving at 10:30pm. So we could also move on somewhere after.

Scogs and I are planning to go tonight, celebrating the fact that he did not get root canal work done today (but the tooth will be pulled on Monday). Any takers? We won't get there until around 8pm.

First time for
Frühlingsfest this weekend ... I spent 10 glorious days at the 05 Oktoberfest. Any tips, recommendations, warnings?
P.S. Is Bavariabroi still around ... huge place by the fairgrounds?
Prost!

Warnings? Do not expect it to be on anything like the same scale as the Oktoberfest.
Recommendations? There is only one tent. So I'd say go for that one.
Yes
Bavaria Bräu is still there, it's just called something different which I can never remember.

I think you will be disappointed if expecting anything like the Oktoberfest. Its really just side shows with one beer tent and one beer garden and a whole lot of teenagers wandering around.

This fest is L.A.M.E. Save your cash for a nice beer garden.

we went there on the weekend, no issues getting tables at 7pm, but be warned, alot of youngsters drinking and alot of German White Trash.

I wandered through the grounds the other day and was amazed at how quiet it was. No offence or anything, but the Freisinger
Frühlingsfest has more going on than that event. I don't really understand how the city can be so focused on Oktoberfest that people aren't interested in going to any other Volksfeste.

I went there at lunchtime today. Just got back in fact
There was no one on the rides.
The streets were emtpy, except for one corner where a bunch of 11-year olds were trying to kick the shit out of each other.
The beer tent was at a guess 10% full and no music.
The
Frühlingsfest in
Stuttgart is waaaaay better than this (unless it's gone downhill a lot since I lived there).
I change my recommendation above to: don't go, especially if your expectations are high.

Thanks for the replies ... I was thinking about spending two days at Springfest but perhaps Saturday night will do it. And I'll temper my expectations before I get there. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for trips to
Seehaus,
Hirschgarten, Insel-Muhle, etc. And I'll try not to get beat up by a bunch of 11 year old kids.
Thanks again - Mark

We waited 45 min. before we got our first beer. After 1hr 45 we left, nobody was bringing food.
Also tried to stand in line and fetch the food at the counter proved to be impossible.
The worst system, I have never seen anything like that. The waiters have to pay for their food in cash, hence it tkes for ever.
