Ask your Hausmeister or landlord.

I've been trying to find out whether one needs a parking permit to park in Schwabing (the area around Hohenzollern plz and Nordendstr).

I have some people coming to visit and they will need to park their car here for a few days. The car will have UK plates on it - does that allow them to get awasy with parking 'sans permit'?

Any ideas? If a permit is required, can I get (a guest) one easily and is it expensive? Alternatively, does anyone know where to park for free?

I used to live around there and as far as I am aware there are no permits needed...

Just have to watch out for the signs saying when you can and cannot park there. My g/friend did not see the sign once on Karl-Theodor-Straße and got up in the morning to find that the car had been towed away about 10 minutes before.

finding a spot is another thing. let your visitors know they might need 45 minutes to do so.

after much dragging of feet and receipt of dozens of unneccessary parking tickets, i'm planning on hauling over to the pocci-strasse amt and picking up my schwabing park erlaubnis. query is: what kind of paperwork do i need to bring with me? photo ID? car registration? lease agreement? utilities bill in my name? i don't want to get there and realize i'm missing some vital scrap of paper the amt deems essential... that would be so ungerman rolleyes.gif

thanks much!

I read in the Süddeutsche Zeitung today that where I live (Lehel) will be eligible for parking Wappens to park ion your region on the street. I however do not have a car, but my girlfriend does. Can I apply for one for her, or do I have to have a car issued in my name? Has anyone done this , as it begins in February and I would like to have an idea of what I need to do this.

Interesting, brokenm. Did SZ mention any other neighborhoods implementing this? Err, like around MaxVorstadt/West Schwabing?

So ...

I'm moving once again within the city - this time Maxvorstadt to Glockenbachviertel - the new place is cool, the location is excellent. My good lady and I just have one itsy-bitsy problem.

Parking.

There's no space in the garage of the new building. The current tenants said they had a friend who had a hotel with places free - but upon enquiring it seems this is also full (now that we've signed the contract <a-bullsh!t-hem> ) mad.gif

So to my point.

Anwohnerparkzone ... great idea ... €30 a year to park on the street if you have a permit - and you can only get a permit if you prove you live in that area. Pretty straightforward rules considering we're in Germany, right? wink.gif So hopefully no more driving around the block until 5am when the local milkman leaves for work to find a spot ... blink.gif

- great if you live in an area with it, but that means the ones that don't get flooded with the 'no permit owners' ... just like my new gaff ...

I have read somewhere that the powers that be plan to make this the norm in all areas within the Mittlerer Ring...

So

a ) Does anyone know where I could find out more information about when each area is liable to have this applied

or

b ) has anyone got a reasonably priced parking space going in Glockenbachviertel, somewhere near the river?

BS

In FUTURE they plan to automate the renewl I hear but the mass introduction of new parking permit areas is casuing them a few admin problems at the minute.
